I have seen a lot of directions for the Mickey Light Post, but when we are there I have seen a light made out of the channel lights. They are Mickey ears or Minnie. Does anyone know how to make these or where to buy them.

if you are looking for the string lights of Mickey heads they have them at a Christmas shop in Downtown Disney.

Thank you but I am not looking for the string of lights. When we are at FW we have seen a Mickey head made out of lights, not the lamp post. It looks like it is made out of some sort of wire with the plastic channel lights strung around it. The lights are like people use at xmas. We use the same lights to hang from our awning. They are a plastic tube with lights in them. Does anyone know what I mean? Or where you can get the Mickey head made out the these lights?

Are you talking about rope lighting? If so, my DH made one and I can post pictures tonight with general instructions.

We made a HUGE mickey light using clear rope lights and hula hoops (one large and two smaller). We used zip ties to hold the lights to the hula hoops. We had planned on hanging it up high above the camper in a tree, haha :lmao: . Well, the hula hoops flexed just a bit and I wasn't happy with it. We ended up hanging it on the front of the camper to give it more stability. Everyone that came buy at night loved it.

We still plan on making a large mickey head like this...but I'm currently in search of something stonger to string the lights on???

Here is a picture of what I think you are talking about. I found it on the Picture of the day at the fort thread.

Yes I am talking about rope lights, I guess I just couldn't think of the name. I have seen them all over FW. If you can post pictures I would sure love to know how to make. We are there a lot and I don't use a lot of decorations but I love those.

The picture is somewhat what I am talking about, but I have seen them attached to what seems to be a metal frame.

We made a red one, like the blue one without the Merry Christmas in the middle and used cable ties to attach to a metal frame.

It looks like the blue one is attached to a metal frame. Not sure.:coffee:

Finally, I have your answer. We have been out of town for awhile.

We are lucky to live close to a factory that deals with some type of barrels that have metal rings to lock the lid onto the barrel. 2 different sizes on the metal rings- perfect for the Mickey light.

My DH used the small rings as the ears-drilled four holes into the large metal ring to attached the two ears. Bolted the small metal rings onto the large metal ring. Found a piece of metal for the base in his storage building. He then placed the rope light on top of the metal form and attached with cable ties. We use tent stakes to hold the Mickey light to the ground

Nothing fancy - very low cost.

Here are some picture of the finished product.

Thank you I might try it, they are great. I just got to figure out what to use for the rings, might try Home Depot.
Thanks again
