Basically, the title says it all. I am interested in getting Mickey ears as favors for the wedding. Where can I get them? and are there price differences between getting them from WDW or getting them online?

Hi! We're buying these ourselves at Disneyland. They cost about $10 each, but if you buy them through Disney Floral they tack on like $4 each for embroidery. Disneyland does embroidery for free. Walt Disney World charges for embroidery, but I don't know how much. And the only place I know to get them online is The Laughingplace Store.com, but they want $20 each! And that's after the "discount"...

Maybe somebody else knows of other online places to get them?

I'd be happy to pick some up for you at Disneyland when I go at the end of November...

We ordered ours through Disney Floral. We are using them as place cards.
The ears are $9.95 and the names are $7.
We just thought it would be easier than trying to get them done ourselves, and we don't have to worry about bringing them down with us.

PrincessBrideKatie, I had my FTW Event Manager order them for me. They were a surprise to my guests that were given out during our photo session inside the Wedding Pavilion. They were a huge hit and really brought a smile to everyone's faces.

If these are ordered through Disney floral, will they be counted towards your minimum? I think Magic Kingdom (WDW) embroiders them for $2 per hat.

i don't see why they wouldn't be counted towards the minimum, especially since you can use them as place cards and all the other place cards count towards the minimum!

Yes they count towards your min. The embroidery is different than at the MK.
It's a wider font like they use at Downtown Disney.

So they would be about $17 each personalized from Disney Floral, as opposed to $12 each if purchased on-site from Downtown Disney? It's for the exact same hat with a different font? I definitely want to buy Mickey ears for my 15 guests, but if I preordered them to be ready by the time we get down there, it will be $75 more than if I just went to the hat store at Disney and bought them. I'm fiercely debating with myself whether my time during our first trip to Disney is worth more or less than that amount. I wish the hat store in DTD took credit card orders over the phone.

Just a thought for any AP holders... You could buy your hats at World of Disney to receive 10% off (not much, but every penny counts to me!). We used a discount to purchase our hats (27 total). I have been taking them to MK with me the last couple of trips to have them embroidered ($2/hat). The infant, youth and adult hats are all $9.95.

Charging $7 for embroidery is crazy. With 50 guests, that comes out to $350 just to embroider them . I'm probably just going to order the hats through Disney Floral and then just take them all over to MK myself and have them done for $2 a piece.

JaxTeach,
Thats a great idea! I should do that instead. But I wonder if I do it that way, if it will still count towards my minimum...:confused3

hello i did hats as placecards and i had 106. i purchased them all around dd and then brought to magic kingdom to to have names on. they were so nice it took 2 hours and they even put them in table order.

No I don't think it will count towards your minimum if you buy them from World of Disney or anywhere besides the Disney Florist. I think it only counts towards your minimum when coming from the Disney Florist because it would be considered part of your floral order?

You're probably right. That would make sense. I will probably just pick them up myself either at DTD or MK and then have them embroidered for $2 each. Its not a big deal if it doesn't count towards the minimum. I'm sure I'll find something else to spend $500 on that will count towards the minimum away

Janet2K,
I was wondering if you had any pictures of the names embroidered on the ears? Several DISers have commented on the difference in the embroidery. This might tip me over the edge ( I know I want them, but the names may just do it if it's not the "stitchy" one).

Thanks!:cool2:
