Mickey and The Promise of Cheesy Dorito Fingers- Oct 2012 PTR Update 10/06

Okay, i know i said i was needing to update about food... but i had that post almost complete and my computer locked up. it didn't save it. so before i start over, i just wanted to know if any of you all have seen this bag in person?

Its very similar to a hipster, which has been my park bag in the past and my current daily purse. well, this new one seems to be about a half inch wider, plus has a kindle pocket in the front! (or ipad, whatever) i'm trying to decide if i need one or not. i'd really like one, but there is nothing wrong with my current hipster. It's $78 :scared1: that's like $26 more for an extra pocket and a small bit of space. i hope to catch a great sale on it; if not, i guess its going on my Christmas list.

Also, a while ago, i bought a couple coloring books and bandaids for the trip- disney of course. i also got these one day at target. they were about $8 i think, and i got two.

Someone said that they found a product similar to a Frogg Togg at Dollar Tree and really like it. Anyone else have experience with Dollar Tree's? i'm going to go look for it soon. I figure it's worth a shot for that price.

Cute purse!

And some sort of fan is always a plus! :thumbsup2 I have a clip-on one for Reid's stroller & I bought a small clip on one that also uses water for misting.

Happy birthday to Maya! Sounds like a magical birthday! I was a huge reader at Maya's age and would have loved a Kindle even then. It's a great present.

I thought the Phineas and Ferb thing sounded cool, too. I'm hoping the crowds won't be too crazy for it.

James looks so much older than the last picture I saw of him!:goodvibes

Hi Lauren, just checking in! It has been a while since I have commented, but been keeping up. Sounds like Maya had a great birthday! We are thinking about getting Colson either a kindle or some sort of cheap tablet for Christmas. He is always asking to play on the iPad, and Mommy doesn't share her toys well, lol. He likes the silly game apps.

Your SIL and I were talking about you not too long ago at church, and I have been meaning to catch up, so HI! We were wondering how you and I grew up together, without knowing what kindred spirits we are! ;)

So jealous to see how soon you are going to our special place!

i dont like to share my kindle either! or my phone! once kindle fire added the parental controls i was much happier with it. no monthly fee, tons of free stuff for kindle, and internet/ purchasing control. there is even a fair amount of accelerated reader books available for library loan. there is also a new kids tablet, but i had trouble finding out how much the "stuff" for it was. but it was cool because it was sort of like it was prebuilt with an otterbox type cover. it seemed like you would outgrow the basic kid stuff they sell quickly, but if i remember correctly you could use the amazon and maybe the google market on it as well.

well, you just got back from our special place- i was certainly jealous then.

i know, how crazy is it that for years we didn't know we were both disney addicts LOL!

i bet carter and landon look older too. such handsome guys! i was so very sad to read that we are going to miss each other by only a few days. what say are you arriving? I'll keep my eyes open for a giant double stroller, just in case your plans change :)

i would have loved a kindle too at maya's age. i used to get in so much trouble for reading under the covers when i was supposed to go to sleep:) now that the kids are older its been great for me too because its really encouraged me to read more as well.

thanks! i hope that the fans work well.

Oh wow! I missed that Disney blog! Sounds like fun!

it does! i need more hours on my trip! i hope to fit it in!

hi everyone!

i'm happy to report that we have 36 days, yes, that's right, only 36 days!!!

it's really sneaking up on me. i have a couple of things we need to order this week. it seems that i hid my body glide from myself, for one, and i want to get a couple Frog Togg's.

i know i still owe you a couple posts about food too!

i'm getting really nervous about the packing part. i think i've found a spot i can put the suitcases and the kids won't notice them. i'll just sneak a couple of items into the upcoming laundry. they won't notice the missing things when i pack them gradually. i can't believe that in 5 weeks i will be there!

We went to our local fair yesterday. first of all, i'm glad that we have yet to be in disney when it is 97. we have been in the 90's, but yesterday felt much worse. we didnt last but 4 hours. but it made me long for the food and rides at my favorite place that much more!

Woo Hoo!!! Your trip is getting close! :woohoo:

I feel kind of the same way - like my trip is sneaking up on me. I've started a list of things I need to buy & things I need to do. You're so good to be able to keep it all a secret. I would never last. :rotfl2:

Looks like y'all had fun at the fair! :goodvibes

I know...can't you believe it? So quick!! I am so impressed that you are able to keep it secret. Packing is going to be fun...:rotfl: Hopefully the fall weather will come early where you are and they won't need as much of their warm weather clothes. That will make it much easier to pack!

it is going to be weird to pack- i'm so used to doingit last minute and i won't be able to do so. unfortunately, i don't think we will have an early fall. we don't typically have fall here. In fact, the high today is 100. ridiculous for Sept. However the fact that i always over-buy the kids clothing will come in handy for once:lmao:

yes, i have a small list of things to buy... like a frog togg.. and i can't find my body glide. must have body glide!

it is getting really hard to keep it a secret. last week i wen to have lunch at school with maya. the girl sitting across from her liked to talk, and she was telling me about taking her first trip to Disney in October. I literally stopped myself as i was starting to say "Maya, she will be there at the same time as us"

just realized i neglected sharing a couple small items here.

They changed our flight time slightly. i suppose it works out okay for us. I liked the original best because we were getting there slightly earlier- but at least they made up for it on the return. It does make me nervous to get home so late when Maya has school at 715 the next morning- but i can't say i'm upset about having until 3pm until ME will pick us up. well, i hope they choose 3 instead of 230.

Also, a couple weeks ago they announced a small room only discount 20%. It was no where near the discount if we had been eligible for free dining. However, it was a little savings- about $275. So i'm happy enough with that. i had decided that we were not going to get a discount. And i, the person who cannot fathom anyone paying full price for anything, had made my peace with it. So i feel better, more because we aren't paying full price then for the discount :rotfl2: And we are fully paid, so nothing to worry about now except some spending money. I have about $300 in Disney gift cards, and that will pay for a good portion of it. We should have a couple meals out of pocket, probably a few snacks (because of how many credits we will use at Food/ Wine, and then a few souvineers. Oh, and Pirate's League and the carriage ride. i think we have enough change to pay for the carriage ride.

1 month! AS in 4 weeks and 2 days!

I had decided not to order the kids any special clothing for this trip. If i order according to this summer's size, they may not fit in it for next summer. plus, we have plenty of regular Disney tees.

Instead, I just ordered these for the kids to use to carry autograph bags. They each came with the bag, the autograph book, and a pen.

Last trip, we forgot our autograph books numerous times. really, it was silly the number of times we forgot them. hopefully, this will eliminate some of that!

Love those autograph books and bags! Very cute. Hmmm...gets me thinking. I wonder if M would keep up with a small messenger style bag with his autograph book. I could fuel my current duct tape craft obsession. And make him a cute holder for his autograph book. Might even be able to add a Mickey head to decorate it. Must think about this more... :)

Oh I like that bag/book!! I'm considering skipping out one last time on the autographs… But I'm starting to wonder if Cortlyn will want something if I don't do it. I didn't bother with it on our first trip. I just don't want to have to keep up with more junk!! But I like that its in a bag that Cort could keep up with… hmmm:rolleyes:

Yay! for saving some $$$ on the room!

And those autograph books & bags are really cute! :thumbsup2

thanks! I'm excited for that extra savings too!
the books/bags were very reasonable. if i bought a pen and book there i would spend almost the same amount. i had some pages left in last year's books until James felt that we needed his autograph a few times too :rotfl2:

my kids are addicted to the autographs. even James was last time at barely 2. but i'm not sure he would have been if he didn't have Maya to watch. we left them in the stroller at all the big meetings- seeing mickey at town square, rapunzel, etc. I'm really excited for this solution. Straps adjustable and you can personalize if you want.
It's nickaroo555 on Etsy. I think that there is one other seller on there for a similar product as well but i knew someone who was happy with these.

oh, that sounds like it could be really cute! can't wait to see what you come up with!
i love all the fancy duct tape. what all have you done with it?

I'll have to post a couple of pictures on my PTR...I made a pirate tote bag that is really cute. It was my first big project after wrapping a couple of presents and making a couple of checkbook holders. I also made a couple of smaller bags with FSU duct tape. I wanted one (tote style,to take to football games that I could set on the ground and not worry if drinks got spilled in the bleachers, etc. The other one is more a messanger bag style just the right size to hold my ipad and a couple other things. If I scale that one down a bit it would be perfect for the autograph book.

My latest project is a make up bag. It even has a zipper! I'm making my BFF a set of 2-3 in zebra print for Christmas. We are going to Paris with our husbands, leaving Christmas Day and returning NY Day. So I think it will be the perfect gift...and super simple!

I'm also thinking I might combine the messanger bag with the make up bag to have a zipper pocket for the pens and then another pocket for the book. I can add some velcro to the flap to keep it closed too.

you have been a creating machine! i especially love the idea of the drink proof bag! i need to get over to the ptr to check them!

are you guys done with the shopping for your trip? i keep coming up with little things i need

today i ordered two frogg Toggs. they have good reviews and to be honest, sometimes its hot enough here to want to use them in the house LOL. we will definitely like having them for soccer etc, so they are probably a good investment.

i also ordered some new body glide!

the kids took swim lessons this week. maya did okay. she has a long way to go, but will swim with her face in now. james was stubborn and didn't really get much out of it. lets just say that we will be continuing it later this winter.

soccer starts next week. i love three year old soccer. its such a mess and its absolutely adorable. kids crying, clapping, playing anything but soccer! i'm really excited for maya to play again. she hasn't done it in a couple years, and at least at 4 i thought she had potential....

Congrats on a lower rate! The autograph books/bags are darling. Soccer sounds like fun for the kids! I'm going to have to google Frog Toggs because I have no idea what that is?
