Michael & Theresa ~ 4/19/2010~WP/CG/UK lower~holy moly an update! day 4 is up

Sorry I haven't been around in a few days. I was participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Chicago! It was a great success and the Chicago Walk raised $7 million. My hip was hurting pretty bad at about mile 22 but I made it all the way! All 39.3 miles and then some! I learned from last year and took today off! :)

That's awesome that you did the breast cancer walk. My DF's mom passed away from it yrs. before I even met him and we looked into the Susan G. Komen(sp?) one, but you have to raise like $2,000 just to walk in it and we can't really do that right now (most of the people we know just got married and/or bought a house and/or got pregnant, so they wouldn't have much to donate). We're thinking of volunteering for it tho', and there's a cancer walk for some other foundation at the end of the month, so we might do that.

So now I have time for a small but exciting update! We received the cd's in the mail with the music and cakes on them. Music we haven't really started thinking about but we've narrowed down the cakes. It's a little difficult to imagine these cakes as 2 tier cakes so if anybody has had one can you please post a pick of yours so I can get a better idea. Also, which one do you ladies like best? opinions wanted!!! :) How difficult is it to have Disney customize one of these? can we make minor changes with them?
Here they are in reverse alphabetical order!!

O yea, and I like this cake the best out of the ones you put up. It was one of the top 2 I liked for my DF&I, but we're goin' w/the chocolate strawberry swirl or w/e one.

Theresa congrats on the walk that is great! as for the cakes they are all beautiful, so its a tough call. best of luck choosing. congrats on scheduling your ps session too!

Theresa-all of them are beautiful! You can definitely talk to your planner about customization. We had the destination castle with fresh floral, and it looks like this...

So, I'd also tell you that each cake can look a little different than the pictures.

Thanks Heidi! I love your cake. I was wondering which one you had b/c in the pic they sent it doesn't appear to have cascading flowers. I think it looks great, and I love the colors!

If you can volunteer totally do it! It is an amazing experience and such a fantastic cause. As for the cake, the chocolate strawberry swirl sure does look delicious!!

Thanks Tammy! Hope you are doing well!

I think I may be the most indecisive bride EVER!!! first a videographer was a must have for me. then as i started to crunch some numbers in my head thought 'well, my bro-in-law just got a new hd video camera. maybe he can just video for us' NOW, i'm back to, i'm going to regret it if i don't get a videographer!!! So, i'm looking into a few options. I emailed Stan at STVS and have requested more info from a few others. Hopefully, we'll find someone that fits within our budget and still get what we want. wish me luck on my search

I think Heidi's cake is an awesome cake to use as an inspiration. You could do it with your flowers and colors and it would be awesome! You could also do the bubbles one - I think that's uber cute! :cutie:

And you don't need to pick one of their cakes. I brought a picture of the one I wanted - it's a cross between simple elegance and tower of roses - and they're doing it for me. Don't forget Carrie's cake - I forgot where she got the inspiration for it, but I don't think it was one of their standard cakes. If I remember correctly - Patrick made the topper. :confused3 (I think)

Good luck with the videographer - we decided on STVs because of the webcasting, but there are a few others that are really good. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info Meg! I really do like Heidi's cake! Maybe I can combine that with the bubbles... hmmm i wonder what that would look like?
I'm basically emailing a ton of videographers for more info. I haven't had to do a big search like this for anything yet. I was sold on Misty right away!

Thanks for the link Meg! I appreciate it. I tried doing a search on here but came up with nothing, I must be doing something wrong:laughing:

So after much research, we decided to use A Moment to Remember for videography. They offer just what we are looking for and at a reasonable price:thumbsup2
Also, we heard back from Rev. Jack Day. He has us penciled in and Jack's Pak is on it's way!
oh and we picked out our toasting flutes... now to actually get them!

Ooh those are awesome Theresa! Are they Things Remembered?

I love the toasting flutes. They look so regal like they are for royalty. Where did you get them?

Thank you. I really wanted something different.:goodvibes

I agree. They are from Things Remembered. You can buy them online at thingsremembered.com. They have a couple different styles. :goodvibes

I have toasting flute envy!!! I saw those at Things Remembered in Portland and loved them! I may find a way to get them yet! (insert evil laughter here!) Are you going to have them engraved?

:goodvibes

Meg, I'm so glad you like them! We will be having them engraved at some point. :goodvibes

I've been trying to do some research on centerpieces/alter&aisle decor. I wish I knew how many people are coming so I know how many tables we will have LOL. I want something very simple and basic. I'm thinking something like this... one on each table/aisle, and the rest on the alter? has anyone had anything similar to these that can give me a rough estimate?

or something like this... i don't know how these would work for the ceremony but for the reception and dessert party they'd just be hanging out in the middle of the table. any suggestions?

This one could be used everywhere as well... it's the one in the upper right corner!

Here is a picture of our table.

We had 3 glass vases, filled with water and red petals and a floating white candle. There were a few votives on the table, red petals and a frame with the table number. Our colors were red and white so we had a white table cloth with red napkins and we put our menu cards in the napkins. I believe the centerpieces were $35 each.

Close up.

Here is a picture of our candle ceremony at our ceremony. Notice the vase over to the left with white petals and a white candle. This was our memorial candle for those that have passed on (both my and DH's moms).

We also had 2 bouques at our ceremony on either side of the aisle (sorry, no photo).

We had the memorial candle and the two bouques brought over to our reception for our cake table. They also used my bouquet and my girls rose wands.
