We're now considering adding Miami to our itinerary. Has anyone been, and can they recommend a good hotel? We'd like to maybe visit the Keys from here too.

There's just so much to do and only 2 weeks to do it in, so any comments would be appreciated.

The most recent visitors to the Keys I think would be the Dazzles - Annie posted about their hotel

I had a couple of days staying at South Beach Miami near the Art Deco district. This is a real buzzing place with lots of restaurants, shops, bars and the beach is very nice as well. There are a couple of REALLY top class hotels Lowes is one that immediately springs to mind, but there are any number of smaller boutique hotels that offer reasonable room rates with decor in keeping with the "theme" of the area. IMHO it's more of a destination for adults, that's not saying kids aren'r welcome just that there are many other destinations nearby that probably have more for kids to do.

Thanks Vernon, am having second thoughts anyway. After looking at the Virgin brochure last night, looks like Fort Lauderdale might be more suitable, with a day trip to Miami.

If you are going to visit the Keys, I suggest you try getting a room at the Ocean Pointe Suites in Tavernier (just south of Key Largo).

We booked a long weekend there last October and got a two bedroom condo for $109 per night. King bedroom with private full bathroom. Two twin beds in the second bedroom with access to a second full bathroom. Full kitchen with plates and coffee maker and full sized fridge and stove, decent sized living area with pull out sleep sofa, very small balcony, HUGE pool. We loved it and plan to stay there again for about a week this fall.

My cousin from Sheffield and his girlfriend stayed with us. THEY LOVED IT!! We went snorkeling at John Pennekamp State Park. It was awesome! I saw a nurse shark, along with many other tropical fish. Also had dinner at a great place in Islamorada (I think) and after dinner some of the restaurant staff fed nurse sharks and tarpon right next to the outdoor dining area. Saw the best sunset of my life there.

I can e-mail you some photos from our trip if you'd like. :)

Got a great deal through http://www.flausa.com

The rates for Ocean Pointe Suites are a bit higher right now, but I think they should drop again in May or June.

Have a great trip!!!
