If you take Disney transportation to port Miami do you still get a Port of Arrival Time? Just wondering if there is any advantage to take their transfers. We have a family of 5 so uber would be cheaper, but we like to get on the ship ASAP. Anyone with recent experience?

I believe taking Disney transfers means no PAT…

We took an Uber XL in Miami as we were staying at a hotel outside the DCL hotels. We are a family of 5 and really wanted a cheap option as we weren’t in Miami long at all, so we went cheap on both hotel and transport (actually our hotel offers a cruise port shuttle for free but we didn’t take it because the times were not great). It is nice to get to port when you want vs when the bus load of ppl gets there!

It automatically defaults you to the earliest PAT (10:30-10:45). I know this because at the time I did online check in, we did not have disney transfers (well... actually we had booked them, but thanks to a website glitch they disappeared from our reservation just before check in). The earliest PAT I could get was 10:45-11 checking in at midnight. When I later added back the disney transfers to our reservation, I was immediately able to print a new port arrival form which had automatically been changed to show a PAT of 10:30-10:45am.

I sailed on the Magic last October, used DCL transfers from the airport and had to select a PAT time. YMMV.

We will be traveling as a group of 5 this time with three teens. I was wondering what hotel you stayed at and if you would recommend it?

It was the Comfort Inn & Suites Miami Airport North. Would I recommend it - well, if it's just for a short stay then yes, for sure. The price was reasonable, the room wasn't bad, and free airport/cruise port shuttle plus free breakfast is hard to beat (though as mentioned, the cruise port shuttle is booked on a first come first serve basis). But it's not fancy in the least, and the location isn't particularly interesting.
