MGM dinner w/o Fantasmic package

We decided the Fantasmic dinner package wasn't for us.
Do the MGM restaurants still make regular ADRs available?
We will be going at the end of October when the show is
at 7:30. Do you think 5:30 ADRs give us enough time to
eat and get seats? (We are thinking of Sci Fi for dinner).

absolutely you can book dinner! keep in mind, you might need to be line for the performance about 90 minutes prior to beginning. we went during early december, slow time of the year, and were glad to have made reservations w/the package. there were a lot of people waiting in line!

Mama Melrose stops taking reservations at 5pm at that time of year. We are currently set for a 4:40 on 10-25 and I have called and called to try to get a later time and have been repeatedly told that 5 is the latest time.

I just made a 6pm for Brown Derby without the package for end of November. So much better than eating at 4pm with the package. I'll take my chances on getting into Fantasmic since we've seen it so many times already.

The later times do open up at Mama Melrose. I just called for our 9/9 reservations and was able to make one for 5:40 as opposed to the 4:30 reservations I had. I think they open up 3 weeks before. We are also not doing the Fantasmic dinner package. I like Fantasmic but not enough to wait in line or to pay for a TS meal in MGM (we're getting the free dining plan so we don't have to pay for Mama's if we don't do the fantasmic package) If there are seats when we finish dinner we'll see it if not we'll do some attractions while the parks are empty.

As long as you weren't asking for the Fantasmic Pkg they should have had later seating times when you first called. I called 89 days out from our trip and got Hollywood & Vine at 6:00pm on 09/19/05.

Due to having free dining, we also chose not to do the Fantasmic Pkg, but chose Hollywood & Vine because I've heard there have been some people who have gotten the Fantasmic vouchers there even without the Fantasmic Pkg., where as with the other two (Mama Melrose and Brown Derby) there is no chance of getting the vouchers. I know H&V have also allowed people (us included this past January) to use the DDE for the Fantasmic Pkg, where as the other two restaraunts will not.
