Trying to find info on MGM CS. Actually it seems hard to find MGM food info - are there just not as good of restaurants there? We don't need TS, as we'll be leaving the park early - but would like a good CS that appeals to kids (age 7, 9) that like typical kid food. Thanks!

We've only eaten at Pizza Planet, and it's not bad. Not the best of the World, but not bad at all. The 4 of us (kids 6 and 4) easily split two of the meal deals, which is a pizza, salad and drink. The boys love it!

MGM has the worst food for TS and CS with one exception, 50's Prime Time.

The only CS thing we eat there is a hot dog (close to TOT) and a pretzel

We always eat at the ABC Commisary. My son gets the burger, I get the fish and chips...both are pretty good. I've heard that Backlot Express is better, but we haven't eaten there yet.

If eating at MGM. I second ABC Commissary it’s my favorite CS place there. I do agree though they need some new CS there, it is somewhat limited.

We like to have breakfast at the ABC Commissary. Both Pizza Planet & Backlot Express are good for lunch/dinner, but the service at Pizza Planet is far better. We ate at Backlot twice in the past year and each time the service was very slow and people's orders were messed up.

After many tries at finding decent counter service at MGM to no avail, we now do the hot dog and popcorn, frozen treat thing. A new restaurant of any kind IMO is much needed in MGM. Maybe we are just picky.:confused3

ditto on that, try the cuban sandwich, it is not going to be featured on Food Network anytime soon but it aint bad.

I agree that MGM has the fewest decent CS offerings. If we must grab a quick bite to eat while in MGM, we head to ABC Commissary. The younger kids grab the typical children's fastfood fare, and dh and I get the Cuban sandwiches (which are really good, IMHO).

You had me until you said Prime Time which I feel is the worst place to eat in all of WDW. I find the service there extremely annoying. I like Sci-Fi's atmopsphere much better. Brown Derby is good and Mama Melrose's is average.

CS is the worst of all parks there.

My family loves the Back Lot Express. Basic, but we have always had very good food and service.

Try Rosie's All-American Cafe. It's down from ToT and RnR. It's not too bad but service is kind of slow there, too. They have burgers, chicken strips and I think salads. Their seating area is large and some are covered with umbrellas.

.

I'm w/you about Prime Time. I tried it after all of the rave reviews-long wait, average food, average service (*I saw one character waitress really having fun but the rest overated).

Brown Derby is much better. H&V Character meal was very good too. As for CS-Pizza Planet was fast and what you'd expect I guess- Sbarro type mall food.

Brown Derby's pretty good for TS but it is expensive. Prime Time has been good if I order what I like (I like the chicken sandwich). I don't know a lot about the service. I eat at the bar.

I have had a decent cheeseburger and tomato/basil soup at SciFi.

CS isn't all that good. There's a place that had a pretty decent lunch of grilled chicken and black beans but I don't know if anybody else would find that good. I can't remember the name of it. It was where the tram tour is. I think they have been trying to call it the Flatbread Grill but it doesn't serve flatbread, wish it did.

Starring Rolls had a great breakfast of bagel and pastrami lox.

And they keep getting rid of the salads at CS.

I agree and Catalina Eddie's next door has a good salad and pizza

I think this must be a personal preference thing as far as atmosphere - we hit Prime Time every trip -fun atmosphere, consistently good service and a "home cooking" menu. We tried Sci Fi twice, but the food was poor and service even worse. The atmosphere was fun for the first 10 minutes until the movies all started repeating. It got old for us. Brown Derby I thought for the price was over rated and noisy.

We enjoyed the Flatbread Grill (cs) when we were there. The food was very good and they have a good kids menu too! We didn't try any ts this trip but we are going to next trip.

Didn't like the ABC commisary at all. Backlot Express was better.

the commissary has an interesting mix of food if you are not afraid to try new things... the taboulleh (spelling?) wrap and cuban sandwich are both really good and they offer chicken nuggets on the kids menu, also plantain chips MMMM!!! i enjoy it because although they have the normal kids menu items, they have something different for those of us who do not want another burger, hot dog, or plain chicken sandwich by the end of our trip

the flatbread grill is also another decent cs. they have a really good pulled pork sandwich and a refreshing greek salad. they also have a full kids menu with PB&J and chicken drumsticks.

this is plutolovr's DD21 and i worked down in disney on the college program last summer. i took every advantage to visit the parks and ate almost everywhere. i enjoyed finding new CS that just didn't have burgers, hot dogs, etc. and as long as you are willing to try different things, a lot of places do have interesting things. :earboy2:
