I know that we don't know how the dining rotation will work for the Mexican Riviera cruises yet but do we have to wait for the first DISers to return from the cruise or can we find out what's going on by contacting DCL before the cruise.

Any theories on how dining rotation, formal nights and special theme nights will work for these cruises?

There's no reason to think that The Disney Magic won't have the usual three rotations: PLAPLAP, LAPLAPL, and APLAPLA.

Palo brunch and Parrot Cay character breakfasts should be on the three days at sea.

Here's my theory (based on the itinerary at the offcial DCL website) of the evening themes and shows:

Sat -- Travel to Los Angeles to depart at 5 p.m. casual night; Welcome Variety Show

Sun -- Enjoy relaxation and fun at sea casual night; Hercules, the Muse-ical

Mon -- Enjoy relaxation and fun at sea formal night; Golden Mickeys

Tue -- Arrive in Puerto Vallarta at 7 a.m., depart at 5:30 p.m. casual night; Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer?

Wed -- Arrive in Mazatlan at 7 a.m., depart at 8 p.m. Mexi-califragilistic (tropical/Mexican) night; a Disney movie

Thu -- Arrive in Cabo San Lucas at 6 a.m., depart at 4 p.m. semi-formal night; Disney Dreams (Yes, I know that on the Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises, the semi-formal night is on a day at sea; but I can't see having a semi-formal night on Friday when everyone is packing up. Also, the 4 p.m. departure from Cabo San Lucas should provide plenty of time to get ready for dinner.)

Fri -- Enjoy relaxation and fun at sea casual night; Farewell Variety Show

Sat -- Arrive at Los Angeles at 6 a.m., debark the ship at 8:30 a.m.

I talked to a supervisor in the Castaway Club (for families that have cruised DCL before) and also a friend at FairyTale Weddings, and so far as they've been told, even DCL doesn't know exactly what they're going to be doing yet.
It was assumed that the dining would be the same as the 7 day Magic cruises in the Caribbean.
I was told that Disney's website would have more information by early fall of this year.
As for any "insider" information, such as what we get here, then it will have to wait until the first cruisers have returned.

WELL....I guess Horace's post proves that my "contacts" didn't know much!!!!! LOL

Horace's "theory" may hold true. When I contacted DCL about next year's cruises I was told the following (twice):

1. Dinner rotations and menus would change, but nothing would be known until early next year/end of this year.

2. Excursion information would not be known until next spring.

3. New theme nights would be added, but again not known until early next year/end of this year.

4. For the Panama Cruises -- there would "probably" be special commemorative souvenirs and programs. They also plan to have more formal/semi-formal nights and on-deck parties for certain ports. Of course, as far as shows, both DCL reps I spoke with said that is not even on the planning boards yet.

5. The biggest disappointment I thought is that they ARE NOT coming out with either a brochure nor a DVD/video for the West Coast itinerary. Two reasons: the brochures are a selling device and since they expect most of the cruises to be sold out by the end of this year, a brochure advertising the itinerary would be pointless if there are no spaces to sell.

The DVD/video costs too much to make for just a temporary 12-week stint. I was hoping they would make one just to show the ports, but they said no, it won't be worth it.

That's all I know....
