Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

nah, I called back and they do have space at ASM like you said, but he did tell me that things are changing fast round there right now. We stuck with CBR since it is close to the puppies by EPCOT. We may not even GO and the anticipation of this whole thing is just messing with the kids...

I hope we are doing the right thing by going east. We really don't wanna drive 10 hours and so I am praying for something in Talahassee tomorrow night(we have ressies for Sunday and beyond) but DH wants to leave in the AM.

I think I am numb b/c I am not even collecting any photos other than the baby books and a flash drive with pics and some memory cards. Everything else is pretty secure, but we all know what water CAN do.
I am exhausted with the rst of you and the TV is making me crazy-I just want this behind us. I guess I thought/think Disney can lighten the mood a bit. But if it does hit us, I am not sure anything will.

BTW- thanks to all for the prayers, it truly touches us.

Lori

We are packed and are heading out. We are going to Pine for now. If things get worse we will head to Arkansas. Kristina has my phone number if anyone wants it. My Granny doesn't have internet(in Pine), but I am able to check my email on my phone.

I love you ladies and hope everyone stays safe.

My mom always told me if a hurricane approaches to throw some blessed St. Joseph bread (from the alters) out into the back yard to make the storm go away. So if any of you have some St. Joseph bread, you might want to do it!

I still have my bean! Thin that'll do anything for me?!?

I just realized that I have enough alcohol to last us a few months.:lmao: Every day I've been making a run to the store to pick up a few things and somehow a couple bottles of wine and vodka always find their way home...:rolleyes1

Same thing at our house my friend. If only things worked that way....... I'd have a long happy life and beyond..;) :lmao:

I know that most of you won't know who I am, but Kat and Sheryl are like family to me, and I know that you are all part of theirs.....that being said (in a confused way ;) ) I have all of you in my thoughts, heart, and prayers......I wish there was more I could do............Please stay safe!

hi Wends! After everything you've been through lately I can only say "thanks". Nothing else I could think of would ever come close.... Please give Ross a big ole hug from us!

Anyone hear anything about the Catholic schools yet. I can't keep the tv on, it makes me too upset.
Last I heard the Archdiosese said no school through wednesday. I COULD BE WRONG, BUT i'M PRETTY SURE THAT'S WHAT i HEARD.

I just wanted to stop in to let you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know most of you don't know who I am but I post on the What's for Dinner thread and know Kathy and Sheryl along with a few more of the NOLA gals. Please stay safe and know that if all of our prayers can turn a storm this one has not chance. :grouphug:

Thanks Nan!

I know caps were on for part of this but I'm too tired to go back and fix them. We've apparently become the whole neighborhood watch since we decided to stay.... But then again if things keep backing up like they are we may get out on Tuesday morning yet!

I'm hoping.... rick came up today and said if you really want to leave we can.... I think I hemorhaged all emotion at that point- just pick.... stay or leave.....I'm ok with either, just pick. Needless to say Rick finished this month's business and I finished embroidering this afternoon. We've emptied the freezer(if anyone wants to donate on their way out let me know!), the fridge, I've cleaned the stove and oven.:rolleyes1 You get the picture......

When we came home the other night I made fried green New York tomatoes, Michigan sweet corn, and barbque chicken legs. rick informed me all tasted good, he just doesn't care for chicken on the bone......huh?!?.......It was on sale, It's chicken......just eat it and be happy...... I don't have time for this..........:headache:

I promise God after this I will change my last name....... Is this the problem we keep having?!?

Okay we have a FINAL plan!!!

Going to Tallahassee for tomorrow(found something!) and Sunday as we keep our eyes on the news. If something makes us feel we want to go further to Disney, we will. Part of me says YES and part of me says, "I just wanna get back home....".

DH was dreading a 10 hour drive tomorrow. We are pooped.

Disney told me that I would not lose my deposit only if we booked another trip with it-well, uuuhh, okay, I guess...... . She even told me I could make up a date to reschedule and then keep changing it till we decide on the next time we want to go is set in stone. We will take this day to day.

LOVE the prayer-will hang on to that.

Lori

I'm going to say goodbye now because we're leaving early in the morning and I won't be back on the computer again. I sure hope it's still here when I get back home. :-/ Stay safe everyone!

G'night campin cat- have a safe drive.

I am bringing my laptop with me but not sure where I will have internet access.

Everyone, be careful, keep praying and thanks for being my friends-wanted or not!!:lovestruc

We are leaving at 5am, getting up at 4. DH has been in bed and I can sleep a bit on the way-unless my adrenaline gets in the way!

Tonight I was cleaning out my hubbys wallet and his Father Seelos relic fell out. My mother was a big believer in Father Seelos and always dreamed of the day he would be made a Saint. So when the relic fell out (one my mom gave my hubby to keep him safe) I took it and rubbed it on a tracking map as I prayed. There was a few little sparking sounds :) So maybe Father Seelos is up there working in the behalf of the New Orleans Metropolitan area.

And I too have a few lucky beans around. I think ill rub those on the tracking map too! :)

Ladies,

I know I have been awol for quite sometime now but I have not been on the Dis much of late. I did want to come by and let you know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. The first round of family arrived in Dallas tonight. They are staying in a hotel near by. My husbands family will arrive tomorrow night and my sister Sunday. My sister and her family will stay here. The rest of my sisters are heading off to Birmingham.

I'm keeping my on wwltv.com and watching their broadcast. Thank goodness for the internet because although I have been away from NO for over 16 years now , when a storm is heading to NO, I still get in to hurricane mode and try to find out all the information I can. I'm worried about the Westbank as I have many friends and family that live there. But im worried about you all. Please stay safe. Try to stay sane.

May God bless you all and keep you in His tender care. Know that I am holding you all in my heart.

Hugs
Jamie

Hello Ladies,

My thoughts and prayers go with each of you!

Be safe !

Love to all,

Jenny

I'm new to this thread, and I haven't posted in about a week, but I just wanted to see how everyone is doing regarding Gustav. It looks like a lot of you are leaving.

I am packing right now, just in case we decide to leave tonight (Saturday). We will make the decision this afternoon
after the 1 pm advisory whether or not to start the trek to Atlanta tonight or tomorrow.

Please be careful, everyone.

And thanks to all who have been praying for us.
God bless us all.

I got chills as I was reading this.

We are sitting tight for now. We'll be heading to my mom's property in Tallisheek later on. They are 64 feet above sea level there so we feel pretty safe. If things get too bad there we can always leave.

For those leaving early today I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Stay safe my friends and lets all try to check back in as soon as possible.

Stay safe, everyone. We wil probaby hang out here today and sandbag and get stuff ready then leave tomorrow. We have a hotel in Meridian thru Wednesday nite.

Hey y'all!

I'm still here- DH had to work today. I'm washing clothes and am packing up- unless this thing moves more west, we're off tomorrow to Florida. I wish I could happy about it, but I'm not. I'm devastated. :guilty: I watched my neighbors across the street pack up and leave this morning, just like I watched them 3 years ago with Katrina. Deja vu. They just finished their house and moved in last week. :sad2:

Quick question- does anyone know if the WDW kennel takes birds (a cockatiel)? I have a housesitter who is not leaving at this time, but if she decides to go (she'll let me know tomorrow morning), we have to take him with us and I have no idea what to do with him once we get to Florida.

Okay Girls, I guess this is the last time I'll post for a while. We are preparing the house and packing up to leave. We are going to Destin until this is over, or until Hanna sends us packing again:confused3

I am a lot nervous because we will be evacuating with my mom,who just had open heart surgery. We will have to stop every hour so she can walk and use the restroom since she has a bad bladder infection. I've been thinking about this all night.

Ya'll have been great through all of this and when we do get through this we have to have a meet.

Also, thanks to all of you wonderful people who aren't from here who have kept us in your prayer:love:

I love you all and stay safe.

Hey y'all, We are still here. Thinking of leaving sometime during the night tonight heading to Nashville. My SonIL is working until 7am tomorrow so they can't leave until then. They he & DD are being stubborn young people & trying to convince us to just go to Alexandria. Which if it comes in where they are predicting, could get some rough weather.

We are boarded up & I'll be packing all day today.

Johnny & Kyle are boarding up my parents' house then ours and I'm packing.

I'm very impressed with how organized the city assisted evacuation plan is going, there will be no excuse for anyone to remain here.

Prayers out to all of us!
I am on the relief team at Children's Hospital so will be staying. And I will stay at the house and take care of my horses. We are boarding everything up of course and doing so many other things to prepare. I have a very busy, busy day ahead.
DH works for Jefferson Parish and is essential so will be going into work later.
One of my best friends is a pump station operator for JP and she is on site and ready.
I was on the phone most of the night talking to all of my friends that work at Tulane, Ochsner, etc. They are ready and scared. So many of my co-workers were traumatized by Katrina.:guilty: :guilty:
Am so tired. And have so much to do. But I wanted to give a shout out.

WE ARE STRONG AND WE WILL SURVIVE!
God Bless All!
