Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Mornin'!

After a busy weekend, this week is gonna be busy too! We started school a couple weeks ago and already we are taking a couple days off. BUT , for good reason.

I have a friend that needs some prayers, she has cancer and on major chemo. She is a single mom to a 9 year old daughter. Dad is out of the picture right now. We are going to see her today. She called to tell me how Ashton's story has inspired her and is seeking her DD to get to know her and Haley better. I think for hope. And friendship. Anyway- it is drudging up some stuff in me I am not sure I wanna go back to-but on the other hand, feel like this is a reason Ashton was sick-to give others hope.
Anyway, the mom is desperate and scared and hanging the end of her rope with great clenched fists, believing, when she lets go, she lands in healing waters.

Thank you SO much for the icing ideas-although it was chocolate cake and I am not sure fruit would have worked with that. I need to google some good low/no sugar recipes for him. I have a book, but I need realistic stuff to make when he is over. I made more of that mango poppyseed vinaigrette(Poly luau dressing) and he couldn't have it-well much of it. My DB is HOOKED on it! Anyway, I wish dad were closer. It is sad when we have to think about how much gas will be to see each other. He lives in River Ridge, we live in Covington and DB and SIL, in Gonzales. My other DB and SIL are in Kentwood and sister is with my dad.

On another note- my job worries are true. The other PRN'er went and asked our boss(she got to her before I did) and she admitted it to her but couldn't look at her in the eyes. So, I am on the market for new experiences to get paid for. I just wish I could find a schedule like the one have now-it is very hard to find my work on weekends or contract here in La. I am disgusted and a bit peeo'ed:mad: . Well, this may be the last year of homeschooling-:guilty: -but I am hoping and believin' NOT:wizard: ....

Anyhoo...

I got to see my DN4 and new goddaughter yesterday too and snuggle with her!!! Also, DN6, who is being shuffled around for her annual visitation schedule, called me last night SO excited to be HOME. She is gone every 2 weeks, for 2 weeks, to see her dad and his family in Florida. I miss her sooo much. I saw her a few weeks ago when she spent the night for 2 nights, along with DN4, after her sister was born! I think I may have a "Camp Nana" every summer! Seriously!

Hey Y'all,

I've been a bit MIA lately, just trying to spend more time with Alexis & hubby, and a little less time dissing. Glad everyone made it through the weather okay, it was really bad over here. Saturday night & last night we had huge thunderstorms & lightning.

Alexis is doing well. Unfortunately it didn't really hit her Daddy until after everything was over. SIL told me he hasn't eaten since Friday. So if y'all are inclined to, some prayers for my BIL, Rickie would be appreciated.

Oh yes, especially with the gay men running over screaming "AHHHH, OMG, is she OK???? :scared1: " (Aquatic Gardens is right outside the French Quarter) Major drama, quite a scene! Looking back on it, it is a little bit funny...
Poor Alexis, hope she feels better

:lmao: We've been to Aquatic Gardens, so I can just picture the scene! Funny! I do hope Sienna is over her boo-boos & trauma!

Lori, Prayers being said. I can imagine that this must be hard for you! I hope you can help her & her daughter.

Kristina, That plate is too cute!

thanks all for your kudos on the plate!! it was fun and we did it as a project with the Girl Scouts so it was fun with the whole troop. Posh Pottery on Metairie Road. not sure how much it cost (dd thinks it was free!) she had the idea and it was so fun to make. we got to do an "add on" (the baby fleur de lis) which was cool too. don't have a place to display it yet...it is hanging out on a coffee table.

Hang in there Lori - I know this is a tough time for you and I wish I had some witty or wise thing that would solve it or make it easier for you....just know that I am thinking of you and hope it all works out for the best! and sending lots of virtual   your way!

ok so I am like wondering if it would have been cheaper to rent DVC points than to pay for Pop....and I am SO considering the DVC thing... grrrr.

someone please just kidnap me and force me to go to Disney :rolleyes1

anyone see the Design Star thing last night?? (they did 3 rooms each in 2 houses across the street from each other in NO). made me cry....though everything sentimental is making me cry these days....sigh

Sheryl, you BIL is in MY prayers.

I am just sick. God obviously had me there for my friends mother-who has much faith, but hey we are also human, and she has her moments. I just told her that God expects us to fall, just as long as we always go back to Him for when we get past those times. He expects us to be mad, or sad, or not on top of it all the time-He made us human. Sometimes Christians have guilt on top of that-for not holding thier heads up high all the way through the battle. I told her it was OK to feel those ways. We all fall, and that is where friends and family come in to lift you up!

Anyway, my friend is in the hospital for fluids(she was really having a BAD day) and her DD9 is over here right now. My friends dad brought us for a boat ride today and the kids went tubing and had a BLAST while she rested.

Thanks for the prayers, again.

 I am praying for your friend.

Hey Y'all,

Nasty weather over here today. Heavy rain this morning & again this afternoon. We had to cancel our swim/play date today, we'll try again on Thurs. Hope that works out better.

I hope everyone is well, it's so quiet on the Nola front:confused3. My BIL is doing a little better today, at least he ate something. Thanks for the prayers!

Lori, Still praying for your friend.:flower3:

Hey friends!!!

I will let you know every so often how she is-thank you.

Today was crazy!!! My mom works FT at Lakeside and had this week off-well, during her summer week off, she likes to take my kids shopping-one at a time. This was Haley's 1st year doing this with her and she was soooo excited! You see, my mom will shop for them at LT'd Too, whereas, it is RARE for me to go there at all(maybe just once a year in Foley, with a coupon!). I also commited to help a friend pick up her son from sailing lessons for 2 weeks. SO, I had Haley at Lakeside with DM this morning-late- and Ashton and I hung out there and had lunch, after hitting Disney Store, of course! Then I met up with Haley and DM late afternoon, grabbed Haley, picked up lunch for her, ran back across the lake to pick up DF's DS, then dropped him off in Covington, then headed BACK across the lake to hang with DM and Ashton for an hour or so. Had dinner at the mall, then got home at 9pm-ish! We only had today to do this for one reason or another. I must have burned up sooo much gas today to make up for my lack of heading out too far lately!

I love my mom, but it drives me batty that the TWO times per year we spend time with her alone, it revolves about a mall:laughing: . This, for the kids, and Foley, for me and her. I do enjoy it, but since our jobs are on the line, I am not sure the temptations of shopping are worth it!!! She works doing what she loves though!!!! She ruined me for the mall at a YOUNG age- I can skip it altogether-but I do enjoy the outlet in Foley!

Thankfully, I purchased only plastic cutlery from DS(too cute) on clearance and napkins to match-$8!!! Plus 2 meals-that can be pricey even if not the healthiest!

Good morning NOLA.

Lori and Sheryl I've added your friend and BIL to my prayer list.

I can't believe that school starts in nine more days. Kendall has to go to school today to help with tours of the school for the new students. This summer just flew by.

Morning everyone!

Man, it's been quiet here the last few days. Hope everyone is doing OK. Lori & Sheryl - prayers for both your friends & family members.

I can't believe school is just over a week away! We're sneaking in a beach trip right before to try & stretch summer just as much as we can.

So, does anyone have any "must do" dining spots in the Gulf Shores / Ft. Morgan / Orange Beach area? Guy Harvey's place @ The Wharf looked interesting from the pictures posted. What were the prices & crowds like? Lambert's has been short-listed by the kids (they LOVED the "throwed rolls"). Anybody know of any restaurants there that are run by LA natives? That way we KNOW we're going to get good food!

I've been feeling out of whack the past few days, not sure what's going on with me. Very depressed and not sure why.:confused3

The summer flew by, I can't believe Kyle starts college in a few weeks!

The crowd was very family friendly. Our bill was about $90.00 and that was cheaper than when we went to Lamberts. The food at Guy Harvey's I'd give an 8 or 9 and Lamberts only a 5. The rolls were awesome but my kids didn't care for the chicken and Mark had the ribs and he said they were tough.

When do you leave?

Kathy I hope you start feeling better soon.

School starts in a week! Gosh they are making summer shorter & shorter. Alexis has a few more weeks before they start. I don't have any tips for you, but y'all have fun!

Kathy, Sorry you're feeling down. Exercise should help with that, try hard to keep it up!

We like hitting the Back Porch for in the evening and sitting well.. on the back porch LOL. You can see the dolphins swimming out in the water.

Kathy I hear ya on Kyle. Jack starts school in a few two weeks and I am NOT NOT NOT happy.
If they cut out lunch, recess, nap and snack time then he could be home by noon LOL, i dont see the point of being gone from Mommy 7 hrs a day ; )
Im pretty sad.
I agree with the exercise idea, i always feel perkier when if worked my butt off for an hour or so!

Here is a pic from our girls night out with the "birthday fairy"

Wanna meet for a cocktail at Pleasure Island? That always cheers me up.:cutie:

Well ladies, we cashed in Holiday Inn points and free flights and every other reward thing I could manage and we're headed to WDW tomorrow for a long weekend. We'll be back in Nola on Sunday. This is our farewell to Pleasure Island trip.:sad1:

It's costing us the rental car and food/cocktails(although I have a Landry's gift card from MyPoints). Everything else is covered.

I'm excited to be going but sad that they're closing one of our favorite places.

 To you sweetie; I have been there as well. I had to find something "I" was interested in like reading; I had to get back to taking care of ME. I have since found met a very dear person whom has become a very good friend so that has helped as well.

Kristina - I love the Disney Plate! :thumbsup2 I had DD's birthday Party @ Posh Paint and they had a blast painting shoe and purse jewelry boxes. I may recommend DD's troop do this as well.

ilovejack - I love pics. Which one are you?
