Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

IDK about you guys, but I have been having a ton of anxiety about hurricane season. I couldn't get myself to watch that show, and now I am glad I didn't.
I have been having bad dreams about Katrina. I guess maybe I repressed it or something, but I wish I could get over this already.
I think the fact that I would have graduated school this month(had Katrina not happened) has really triggered the anxiety.

Anyway, how is everyone else doing? I made homemade hummus tonight. It has too much garlic in it, which is perfect for this Sicilian.
I got one of the Passporter books for my trip. I am having so much fun. I had a fleeting thought of changing the dates to the first week of January because DH has that week off. BUT then I realized the way the dates fall this year it wouldn't make any sense.
So we are still planning for Mardi Gras 09.

Aiden is refusing to wear his diaper lately. At night we put his diaper on and then put on shorts and he still managed to get out of it. I can tell when this happens b/c Kurt jr then gets the giggles. So I go to check on them and Aiden is bare but in his bed having the best time "with himself" :rolleyes1 So now the diaper is on backwards, with shorts on top.

Kathy, I cannot imagine your "spot" in life right now, but you are hanlding it well, I think, from what I have read. I am in awe you got through these years(teenage) with the ease you made it LOOK like to us.

:cool1: Congrats to KYLE-how awesome!!:cool1:

BTW-I am getting that hysterectomy. I'm hoping to schedule it tomorrow with the scheduler person!! Looking at mid July, but not real happy with that time b/c I wanted to start school mid July. Right now I am BOOKED in June with kid stuff and VBS. DH is planning NYC for the first week in July and I will be going with him!!! Wish I could bring the kids, but that won't be happening b/c this will happen with air miles and hotel paid for by his job, and maybe an extra day on points. If I go, WDW in Sept will finally be out until next Dec for the cruise, which is booked and half paid for. Hey, can't blame me for tryin' though!!

I talked to my doc today and he said that if he finds more endometriosis adhering to hard to reach spots, and cannot do it laparoscopically- that he would definitely get it out however he needs to to prevent subsequent surgeries(Thanks Sheryl! for the info). He told me that is understood and that it has only happened once in his care. I am just praying for the easy one!!

Hope all goes well. Just have someone stay on top of your post-op care. My mom was discharged while running a fever and had to go to the ER a day later with an infection. The discharge nurse told her she was fine and her fever was normal :rolleyes

Good morning NOLA.

Kathy how did it go last night?

I hope the rest of the day goes better than my morning started out. I went to the garage (like I do every morning) to get water and capri sun out the the fridge for the kids lunch. When I opened the door a gallon of milk fell out and busted. Milk all over me, the ground, splashed all over my SUV. So I hosed the garage this morning and I might add that milk in abundance smells.

Morning ladies -

Lori - I think you are making the best decision.

MrsKraemer - to you...I think we all are surpressing our Katrina feelings. DD has been having issues with the bad weather and tornadoes we have been having. It did not help that she was caught driving in the WB flood with her friends and their mom about 3 or 4 weeks ago. :sad2:

Kathy - how did the graduation go? I know you cried a river.

Last night was DD's closing Girl Scout ceremony for the year. It was so nice! :cheer2: I sat back and was a little sad because I will find out this week if I get the position so this would mean she would no longer be with this troop. :sad1:

Enjoy your day!

 I get pretty anxious during hurricane season too.

I must be good at making it LOOK easy, didn't feel that way......:sad2:

We're here for you if you have any questions about the hysto!

The graduation ceremony last night was very nice. YEP, I cried a river, Johnny even teared up. One glitch, my camera is messed up and I only got one or two good pics.:sad2:

Awe - don't you hate when that happens. Check with the other mom's maybe they took pics as well.

Hey y'all,

I'm feeling a little off this morning, sinuses are making me dizzy & I'm a bit nauseous.

I spoke to Alexis & her Mommy this morning. Alexis had to call me to tell me about the BIG slide at SSR's pool! They are having a whirlwind trip! They've eaten at Boma twice, breakfast & dinner! Raglan Road last night & tonight they are doing the Poly Luau. Alexis is having a blast & able to go on a bunch of new rides. ThunderMR which she loved, but also begged to go on TOT! Yeah she cried, but then asked to go again, but Chris wouldn't let her. They are having great weather & practically no lines! Less than a 5 minute wait for TOT! I'm feeling sad, that I'm missing her going on all the new rides.

Kathy, Glad you made it through the graduation! It seems like the camera always acts up at the worst times! It's good that you'll still get pictures.

Congratulations to Kyle!!!

Lori, I'm so happy to hear you were able to talk it all through with your doctor! If he can do it laparo., recovery is going to be a piece of cake!! But either way with the endometriosis gone, you are not going to believe how much better you're going to feel! Literally like a whole new woman! Hope you can work the schedule out & get it over with. Prayers being said for that!:flower3:

Stephanie, Good luck with your little nudist! You are not alone with the fears of hurrican season. Sounds like it has all of us really out of sorts.

Terry, Your girl scout ceremony sounds nice!

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Kathy, OMG I would have been mad about the camera thing. Well, at least you can get a really great copy of him getting his diploma!

Thanks for the support ladies!!

I started working out with weights yesterday and boy, am I out of shape!!
You almost have a personal trainer in that section teaching you how much weight and how to use the machines and how many times per week to work out-it is just what I need! No extra cost!
We joined a club over here as PE for the kids(the homeschool PE is not as in good of a spot for us as it was a couple years ago)and for us too. Both DH and I need to shed a few pounds. I work in cardiology and seeing patients barely older than me go through caths and even bypasses or have a positive stress test just freaks me out. I think it is b/c I can see either one of us there if we don't change our ways. Plus I am hoping we can instill some kind of healthy ways in our kids. I am not much of a veggie person, but I can eat salad every day with dinner or as lunch.
Much of having heart disease at a young age is family history, but smoking and weight issues factor in also!!! I have the weight issues and DH has the weight AND the family hx. His brother who just died and his mom both had bypasses in thier 40's. His little bro is overweight and has cholesterol issues. DH just was dx'd with cholesterol being a tad higher than wanted so we are working on that for both of us.

I know, rambling again-no school, lots to do, but here i am ramblin' on the Dis!

Lori

We live close to the levee. Whenever, the wind starts whipping up, I get freaked out. I never used to be like this. I try to stay calm and pray that no one will ever see or live through what we went through 3 1/2 year ago.

Kathy, congratulations to Kyle!

Lori1043, I hope everything goes well.

Sheryl, I'm glad Alexis is having fun. I'm sure she'll tell you ALL ABOUT IT when she gets back:cutie:

I wish the Hornets could have pulled it off last night.

Mary, I really thought the Hornets were going to pull it out at the end. It was a good game though. And as any good Saints fan knows, there's always next year! ;)

You should have heard her on the phone this morning! She couldn't talk fast enough! I'm sure I'll be hearing about it ALL summer. :upsidedow

Morning ladies.

Today is the last day of school here in Mandeville. :woohoo: I wonder how long it will take my body to not wake up at 5:00 in the morning.

Happy Hump Day!

Morning Y'all!

Tricia, Tricia it won't take nearly as long to get used to staying asleep, as it will waking up again, once school starts back!

Hope everyone is having a good day! Started feeling yucky yesterday, stomach bug, fever, body aches.....

Hopefully won't last too long.

Ugh...that bug is really going around. Hope you feel better soon. Look at the bright side, at least it waited until after Kyle's festivities. :)

Sheryl i thought of you as soon as i saw it. I knew you and Kathy and all those folks over at the WFD thread would just eat it up LOL no pun intended!

I have been having bad dreams about Katrina. I guess maybe I repressed it or something, but I wish I could get over this already.

The other night I dreamed that the powers that be decided that our levees are completely unsafe and ordered the total and permanent evacuation of the city and surrounding areas before the start of the hurricane season. It was an awful dream. Of course there were no moving trucks to be had so we could only bring what we could carry in our two vehicles, so no furniture or appliances. And we were told that we could not come back for anything we left behind. It seemed so real and brought back memories of that awful day of evacuating when we were touching base with neighbors before we left, finding out where they were going and making sure we had cell phone numbers. Little did we know how useless they were going to be, right? :-/
