Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Good morning.

Terry, I hope your finger feels better today:hug: . I slammed my thumb in my mother's car door when I was 9, and I've never forgotten it. I hope grandparent's day goes well.

Lorie and Lori, your girls will appreciate the curls later on in life. They have beautiful hair.

Everyone stay safe today.

hey ya'll, I am thinking Disney again in Sept. I really shouldn't be but can't help it. There are so many things I wanna do! I was thinking homeschool days, but the prices for homeschool days are higher then getting the DDP for free with regular prices. if it weren't for free DDP, thier prices would be less. But they do not allow you to do the programs set for homeschoolers if you do not buy THIER packages, which do NOT include free dining. I was thinking a girl trip-me and the kids. If DH can deal with that. I got a wonderful price of $600!! for 3 nights, preferred room at ASSp-it obviously will be a QUICK trip if we do it. Homeschool days are Sept 15 and 16th in AK and MK. They have some wonderful programs and it makes me sick I'd have to spend over $300 to get the classes.

It is a longshot to go, but we'll see!

Who's going that week-Sept 14-17th?

Hope everyone stays safe today. I actually got sent home from work as soon as I got there. They were advising all Northshore and Westbank residents to go home. They didn't have to tell me twice.....:drive:

We had an adventure last night at church and on the way home.
We were at church at our normal Wednesday night dinner and choir for the girls. Afterward, a member of our church who is now in college in Nashville was doing a concert. She is fabulous ya'll, her name is Courtney Cole-look out for her in the future. Her style resembles Martina Mc Bride/Carrie Underwood/with a little hint of Christian background coming in there. She has sung at our church for years until college and then on holidays she'd come in and fill in. She mostly gets standing ovations even in a service!! Plus she is cute as all get out-I am hoping she'll go far. Haley has been thinking she was a famous singer for years now b/c she hears her on a CD in my car and never at church.

Anyway, her and the band were so loud and wonderful that it drowned out the weather. My hubby went home b/c he was tired after being in Columbus this week. We obviously, stayed to watch.

After church, we walked out to overflowed toilets(yuck) and flooding everywhere. Cars were under water in the parking lot. We were in there an HOUR and all this. I was parked far from the church due to construction happening at the church. We would have had to walk in about 6-12 inches of water for about a block to get to my van-across a ditch and in another parking lot. Thankfully, we walked about 10 feet and a nice family stopped and threw open the back of thier suburban and let us in and brought us directly in back of our van. At this time I was thankful DH left, knowing our car would have gotten flooded. Anyway, I HUGGED that suburban guy and thanked his family. He carried Haley to the back of the van as we had to walk through some water(like a couple feet b/t vehicles) and Ash and I had fun walking in the water to the van. Haley was horrified the whole time, poor baby! I was thankful Courtney's music drowned out the storm and it appeased her well.

I was also thankful for having my crock flip flops on that day!

On the way home we had to take a weird twisted route. I live close to I-12-like many blocks. We found roads not under water and got home high and mostly dry. I thought of my FIL, who has passed away a few years go, b/c he helped us pick out our lot-our part if the street has never flooded-on either side, it can and has, but we have never.

Long sorry, but that was our adventure from last night!

Lori

I PM'd Sheryl earlier, she hasn't checked in here or on the WFD thread today. I hope she's OK.

I hope you got to enjoy your day off yesterday. It did turn out to be very nice around lunch time (well at least in Mandeville).

Happy Friday ladies.

Lori what an episode you went through. I know where your church is and it's about 15 minutes from my house. I think that area had a lot more rain or at least flooding than by me. It's so scary and I'm glad it's over. Good luck with Disney in September.

I managed to get quite a bit done yesterday actually!!

This morning it's storming again here on the south shore and we're heading out to Kyle's Baccalaureate Mass & Breakfast.

Kat, what a joyous day- Kyle's graduation activities!!

Morning ladies...please be careful on this messy, rainy morning.

My finger is fine; I am able to only wear a bandaid now. What a week!

I can not wait to just rest this weekend; oh and go to the movies to see Prince Caspian, (the 2nd Narnia movie)

Hey y'all!

I'm fine!! Thanks for being worried! I didn't have time to check in yesterday because it was Josh's (my SIL) graduation ceremony!

It was just a super busy day. I had to get Alexis off to school & get Bob & I ready & over to the Lakefront Arena for the ceremony. Kind of a rough morning, it was storming & a windshield wiper started to come off causing the wipers to jam. But the day turned out pretty great anyway. Our Governor Bobby Jindal was the speaker! What a great speaker he is, didn't talk politics at all, and was just so entertaining. Everyone agreed it was the best speaker & best grad ceremony we've attended. Josh received the award for Top Clinician! We had crawfish at thier house after & we were there until late last night

Kathy, Hope this morning goes well! :wizard:

The weather is just awful this morning! I hope everyone gets around okay today. I'm sure we'll have some street flooding around here today.

Terry, Sorry to hear about your finger! It sounds painful! Hope it heals up soon!

Lori, What an evening! :scared: Glad y'all are okay!:goodvibes

The Mass and breakfast were both very nice despite the bad weather. Fortunately we had no street flooding to deal with but my tears could have flooded the church. It's not like I didn't know this was coming, DUH, but as soon as the boys walked into the church in their graduation gowns I lost it.

The boys were acting like typical boys at the breakfast - the topic of conversation was how to speed up the graduation ceremony because of the Hornets game Monday night......

Kathy, Glad it turned out well, despite the weather! :goodvibes I can't say I blame the boys one bit! We were enjoying hanging out yesterday, but even I had to check with Bob to make sure he was recording the game!

Afternoon guys...it was a very nice day. DD and I got our hair done then ate lunch at Chevy's. She is now off to a Laser Tag Birthday party with her dad and I am hanging with the girls tonight! :yay:

Sounds like you had a great day and are going to have a great evening too!;)

Kathy:hug: :grouphug:  I was feeling some of your pain last night just watching(below)...Congrats to Kyle, a big step in thier lives. I am personally not sure I look forward to that day. I will be part happy, part sad. Happy tears, sad feelings of loss- almost.

We went to a homeschool graduation for our organization last night and even though I really don't know the kids that well, I knew most of the moms... and I was boohooing. If you ever want to see a different style and such a personal graduation ceremnony, go to a homeschool grad.

I actually enjoyed our adventure in the rain!! Haley was horrified though-poor thing, now where does she get that emotional unstability:rolleyes1

Lori

Morning NOLA! I hope you all had a great weekend. Saturday afternoon for Colin's baseball game I couldn't believe how nice and cool it was here in Mandeville. The humidity was so low and so nice. :goodvibes

I need to scrample to buy end of the year gifts today. Teachers and the bus driver. I'm not sure what I'm getting the teachers but I'm doing a Home Depot gift card for our bus driver.

Have a great Monday!
