Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

So how did last night go? We moved DS1 to a big boy bed with side rails @ 18 mos in anticipation of DS2. DS2 was a climber from the beginning, so he was moved @ 18mos as well.
Not too bad. After I put him down he would get out. We did this like 3-4 times before he gave in and laid down. Same thing for nap today. Tonight we will convert his crib to the toddler bed setting...I just have to find those darn extra parts and instructions! :lmao:

Just popping in now in case I don't have time in the morning. Kyle is leaving this afternoon with the team and we'll be heading out around 6AM tomorrow. Hopefully this year we'll come home with a championship!!:cheer2:

Have a great weekend ladies!!

Good morning.

Sheryl, the "Nana, you know what" thing cracked me up:rotfl2: So she's a talker, huh?

We had to put my DD is a big girl bed before she was two also. I remember putting her down for her nap and about 15 minutes later I was doing dishes and I hear little footsteps and she just came into the kitchen like "ta-daaa", look what I can do.:lmao:

Oh yeah, she really does talk just to hear herself talking!

Nah, all the boys are here! On our street alone (about 20 houses), we've got 14 girls and 20 boys. Most of those girls are less than 5yo, while all but 3 of those boys are between the ages of 6 & 9!!! Can you imagine what our street looks like on any given afternoon??? Bikes, ripsticks, skateboards, pick-up baseball / basketball / football (or any combination thereof!) I'm not complaining, though; it really is fun. I'm just wondering what will happen when all those boys get their own set of wheels.....:scared1:

Love the grits & shaving cream ideas! DSs did the shaving cream in day care - you could always tell those days because of the fragrance when you walked into the school.

Shovan - if you need some ideas (other than mini-Iron Chef competitions) to keep Alexis busy, try the Family Fun website. It's a magazine published by Disney, and I've seen some really cute, inexpensive project ideas on there.

Thanks! I'll go check that out! She seems to be bored by cooking lately. Unless it's something really complicated & messy! So I'll be forced to find things for her to do. Luckily we have a pool in the backyard, so that should keep her "physically" busy. But I'll have to find something to keep her brain & mouth occupied too!:lmao:

Stephanie, Now is the time to make sure everything is really child-proofed too!

When my DD started climbing out of bed, she didn't come crawl in bed with us. She started roaming the house & getting into everything! I've told the story before, but she was only 2, when she came into our bedroom at about 5:30 one morning with " I was trying to make breakfast but the eggs are wet." Yeah I jumped out of bed to find, her tea set on the coffee table and half a dozen broken eggs dripping off the sides of the table into the carpet!

Good Luck to Kyle & the Shaw Eagles!!

Kathy, Enjoy this trip! I know this game & trip is going to be a bit bittersweet!

just a quick hello.. its a busy week and a sad week!

Jack is done with school this week :sad2: Im sooo sad!!! He has been in this school for three yrs, this last yr was kindergarten half day and now we are on to big school. I cried my eyes out all day and LMAO im teary eyed typing this .

We have decided to put him back in full day kindergarten next yr. He is at a second grade reading level and they recommend we have his IQ tested, but because of social maturity we think its best he is held back. His new school will put him in gifted reading etc, so im happy with our decision, but just sad he will be gone all day next yr. I miss my baby already LOL.

OK gotta go back a few pages and catch up with you all lol!

They do tend to grow up so fast. It seems like yesterday when the new school year started and in two weeks my kids will be out for summer. You know the song Don't Blink? How true is that?

Have a great day ladies.

Morning Y'all,

I have a dr appt today with the rheumatologist. Ugh.

Jenny, I know this time is sad. But before you know it, it'll be next summer & you'll be freaking out about having him home all day!

That sounds like a good plan with full day kindergarten. It will be enough of an adjustment for him, a school change & going all day. Bob's godchild (she was in 2nd gr. this year)is an unbelievable reader, actually she's really advanced in everything. They kept her in her grade level & I'd say her maturity level has just caught up with the other kids.

Hope everyone has a good day!

GO Kyle! :cheer2: Go Eagles! :cheer2: Praying our Shaw team brings home the Championship!! :wizard:

How did the dr's appt go?

Hope all is going well for the Shaw team!!!

I think we are doing the right thing, i was really upset at the thought of first grade, but am feeling much better at putting him back in kindergarten.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

I do think you've made a good decision about school for your little man. New school & a full day is plenty enough for him to handle. (And propably too much for Mom!).

The dr. appt. wasn't fun. The x-rays showed that I have bone spurs growing into the spinal canal in 2 or 3 spots in my neck. Surgery is the only thing that can possibly cure it, but he wanted to continue to try injections & possibly traction. Yeah, Shots! He gave me an injection into the muscles in my shoulder. :scared1: Yeah it hurt & it hurts even worse now. But if this provides relief, I may be able to avoid surgery. We'll see.

Lori, You could always go for a quickie chair massage at Whole Foods. It's only a dollar a minute. And believe me 10 to 20 minutes can make a world of difference.

Ha! The testing takes about 2.5 -3 hours a day and the nearest Whole Foods is about 45 minutes away-not sure I'd have enough time!!! Sounds WONDERFUL though!

Jenny, I am sad for you!!! It will be okay, I know you all put a lot of thought into the decision for his schooling.

Kathy- Go SHAW!!!

Guess what??? DH and I decided, "whats another week of school gonna' do for our kids?" and decided to hang it up till July!!!

We didn't tell the kids till this morning. I told them to 'go get thier books and bookbags and let's start school'. Then I promptly went through them and gave them a pile of books with about 20-30 pages left in them and said, "now, go dump them!". The kids were thrilled. I must admnit though that I cannot let it all go. We are going to continue by reading aloud ,books that stay still on the bookshelves and that I bought for reading pleasure this year. Ones that we never got to!!! So we started that today. I picked out ones that i had bought about early American history-indians, colonialists, Washington, etc...

Come June, they will be busy with drama camp at church and VBS. We start school in mid July!

Lori

Happy Friday!

So, you think Kathy got any sleep last night??? Bet she's a combo of :cloud9: and  because of nervous anticipation! I know it's a school function, but I'm thinking she needed a mimosa or bloody mary with breakfast!

Way to go Eagles! :yay:

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Anybody do the Irma Thomas / Audubon Zoo thing? Too crowded for my tastes. I'll be trying to pack for Disney - 1wk from today!!!

Looks like the muggies & 90's are back! Hello summer

Yea Kyle!!!

One week! Have a great trip. I love packing for Disney. It makes it seem more real when you throw things in a suit case.

The packing anxiety has already started. Last weekend I pulled outfits for my boys & snapped a digital pic so I wouldn't forget what needed to be washed / what went together. It's Ok to  ...I'm a list maker, and this is just a visual version! I'm tempted to pull all of those items this weekend & throw them in a suitcase - they'll only need uniforms come Monday.

I'm planning on doing the same with DH's & my stuff this weekend if I can finagle it. Stuff for breakfast in the room / snacks should also get put aside as well. I've got to plan ahead.....I can't pack & watch Lost @ the same time!

We'll be thinking about Kyle come 7pm....DS1 will just be finishing up his game right about that time.
