Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Hey y'all!

I've had horrible sinus problems the past couple of days and I am sooo ready for this weather to get back to normal! No more cold fronts- it's killing me!

Lorie,

I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles. I can certainly say thats one thing I don't miss about New Orleans. Although my hubby and me still have allergy problems it's no where near as bad here in Dallas as it was in New Orleans. I have asthma too.

I hope you are feeling better soon :)

Hugs
Jamie

Oh my goodness I got chills reading this :) How sweet!

Is that a picture of Kyle in your signature? If so I'm guessing thats a Shaw uniform. My brother-in-law pitched for Shaw back in the 80's and then went on to UNO. He did a few years in the minor leagues but once they had a child felt the constant moving around was just too much.

Hugs
Jamie

Jamie - That's my only child, my son Kyle, and he's a senior at Shaw this year. Planning on Southeastern for college. I don't know how I'm going to let him go.:sad2:

Kathy I wonder if he knows my nephew. Joshua Mancuso. He's at Shaw too. I think hes junior.

I can imagine how had it will be when Kyle goes off to school. I have an only child too. Luckily Chris is only 10 so I get to hold on to him for a bit longer. Although yesterday he did tell me hes never moving out. When he marries he plans to add a 2nd story onto our house and live up there :)

hugs
Jamie

I'll have to ask him if he knows him, I'm sure he does it's a small school. Hold onto your boy as long as you can Mom.

Kathy - Did you know that Kyle's picture is the one being used today on the front page of http://nola.com ?

Yep, it's been there all week!!!!:cheer2:

Here's an article that was in the Houma paper yesterday about Tuesday's game:

It was probably discussed at length here - but I've had bronchitis all week and have been out of it. I have to get well enough to drive back to N.O. next week. Yeah!

Oh no, I hope you start feeling better soon.

Happy Friday everyone!

Hope this weather comes through quickly, & we don't get any nastiness like DFW did last night. StrwLady, how bad was it out in your area? Are you in Dallas proper, or one of the big suburbs?

Kathy- girl, you should've posted a Kleenex warning on your post about Kyle's night at the QB club! I got all sniffly just reading your version. Lord knows I would've been bawling along side of you had I been there in person! That boy of yours is going to go far!

Sheryl - any updates on Alexis? Hope she's feeling better so Mom & Nana can quit worrying.

It's officially spring (or would that be almost-summer?) - The neighborhood snoball stand opened yesterday!!!

Morning all - It sure is windy out.

Lori - I hope you're feeling better.

Sheryl - how's Alexis?

Kathy - where are you this morning?

Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Johnny has been craving stuffed artichokes so I just picked up some, had to go to two stores to find any, there kinda small but I'm gonna stuff em.

Where's Tricia been?

wow what a pretty cake!!!!
Thank you!

Mrs Kreamer please move to Dallas and teach the bakeries here how to do an almond flavored cake. Im from NO but have been in Dallas for 16 years now. I remember when we first moved here my hubby went to a bakery and asked for an almond flavored cake. The girls response was "well I guess I could soak the cake in almond after its baked"

Great Cake I enjoy seeing them on the cakes thread.

Take Care
Jamie
Oh my! That is too funny. Geez, I don't want to give away any secrets ;) , but all it is adding almond extract to white cake :confused3 That is too funny!

Hi everyone,

I have posted here a few times before but read it often. I was born and raised in NO (Algiers) but now live in Dallas. All of our family is still in NO. I read here to get a bit of my NO fix every now and then

We were in NO in March. Of course I flew back with some very important items...Bunny Bread, Blue Plate Mayo, Hubigs Pies and Elmers Easter Eggs! LOL I had it all packed safe and secure in a box and when the attendant at the air port asked me what was in the box I thought she was gonna pass out laughing. I even brought back bunny bread for my nephew who moved up here after Katrina. I haven't had a chance to see him yet so the bread is in the freezer. He better come by soon or my 10 year old son will be breaking in to the bread! He loves Bunny too.

I hope all of you are ok and hanging in there from Katrina. We drove down West End Blvd when we were there in March and it made me heart sick to see so many homes still boarded up or being worked on.

My prayers for yet another quite Hurricane Season this year.

Take care all and I'll be reading and saying hi here and there

Hugs
Jamie
Welcome aboard!
Morning ladies.

Mrs. Kraemer - you go girl...Keep up the good work with the workout.
Thanks

Stephanie, you do beautiful work.
Thank you!

Kyle was honored by the West Bank Quarterback Club last night as one of the areas athletes of the month. It was very nice but long......there were two guest speakers and about 10 kids who were being honored for various sports as the athletes of the months for Feb, March & April.

Of course Kyle had me in tears during his acceptance speech. He thanked his coaches, teammates, his Dad & God, then he stopped and paused. He kinda teared up and looked directly at me and said "I thank my Mom the most. If you look up the word dedicated in the dictionary you would see my Mom. She has dedicated the past 17 years of her life exclusively to me and I love you so much Mom".....I LOST IT......:sad1:
:sad1: That made me cry!

Stephanie- Beautiful cake! Good going on the walking- if you ever want a change of pace from walking on the West Bank, let me know and we could do a walk in City Park and have the kids play on the playground and feed the ducks. They are replacing all of the walkways in City Park right now but it should be done in a couple of weeks.
That sounds great! I hope you feel better, I am suffering too!

Stephanie, I meant to tell you this morning, that you're cake is beautiful!!!
Thanks!

I hope you feel better, I have the same thing!

Hey y'all,

Alexis is okay! Friday is Nana's day off & I slept really late! I think the stress took a toll on me this week. I got Bob off to work & went back to bed, I didn't wake up until after 11:00. My sinuses are feeling funky & my asthma is acting up too. I guess it's the weather change.

Chris talked to Alexis's ped. yesterday afternoon. It looks like her fever has stopped & she is only complaining of stomach pain every now & then. So the Dr. said to watch her over the weekend & see what happens. If she continues to complain or the fever returns, they will start checking the gastro-tract. That won't be fun at all! So we are hoping & praying it all just clears up on it's own.

Jamie, Hope you came through that weather okay!

Tricia, Sorry you've been so sick! Take extra care of yourself & get well. I remember how sick you've been with the bronchitis & asthma before!

Kathy, I know the next few months are going to be hard! But you can handle it! I know I thought sending my only baby All the way to Baton Rouge was going to be the death of me!!! But I came through it, so you can too! You have a lot of us on the boards who've been through it, so we can help. My friends & family just thought I was nuts.

Have a good Friday everyone!

Hey, checking in.

I think I have DH talked into Los Angeles and a few days in Disney for our summer vacation.:cool1: I haven't been to Disney in California since I was 13 (many moons ago) We are still in the planning stages. I am very excited.

Kyle just got a call from his coach. He is officially being recruited by two schools as of this week. One in Dallas, Texas the other in Salina, Kansas.:guilty: We've been told the Louisiana colleges are the last to declare their recruits. I'm silently praying that Delgado recruits him so he can stay home.:)

Mary, That sounds like fun! There is so much to see & do in L.A. besides Disney too! That'll be a great trip.:goodvibes

Kathy, Just check out any scholarship offers very very thoroughly! Staying in state with TOPS & no scholarships may be less expensive than Out of State tuition with scholarships. If he is not being recruited by Southeastern, does that mean he wouldn't be able to play? Or would it just mean he'd have to try out?

We're definitely looking carefully and hoping he'll be recruited in state so that he can use TOPS. If he is not recruited by Southeastern and that's where he ends up he is going to try out, but they are stacked with pitchers.

I keep reminding Johnny & Kyle that "baseball" isn't the reason he's going to college. If he's recruited and can play that will be an added bonus, my main concern is that he get a good education and matures into a well rounded young man.:goodvibes
