Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Lorie, I know you are stressed out right now. I am praying for you. Soon all of this will have passed and you will be in WDW riding Pirates of the Carribbean with your family:thumbsup2

Kris, I am so pulling for you to get through your divorce amicably:hug:

Kat, I will try to post some pictures either tonight or tomorrow:goodvibes

I am feeling pretty yucky right now. I can't breathe and am sneezing a lot. I hope this goes away. I am drinking lots of vitamin drinks and taking decongestants.

I am confused why the doctor has anything to do with gifted testing results. Isn't that through an educational thing. I hope it all goes well. It's a blessing if she is gifted in something! Makes your life a little easier to breathe in certain ways.

Lori
A child psychologist did the testing, and she wants to go over the results and her report in a sit-down fashion. Eh, makes me even more nervous!

I don't blame you, I'd feel the same way.
I'm tempted I tell ya, tempted!

so we are meeting this Friday at 1:30p with both our lawyers to hopefully hammer everything out and settle the divorce stuff. Please pray he comes to his senses and we can settle amicably :)

Lorie - Sorry you've got the blahs, I do too.

Bethany - How are you and Anabelle feeling?

I have the blahs too. It's strange. It's like I have the slowest moving cold on the planet. I had the sore throat; that is a little better but now I have pressure in my ears and some congestion in my head. :confused3 As slow as this is coming in, it could be setting up to stay awhile. :headache: I don't feel all that BAD, but I don't have a lot of energy and I don't feel good either. Just kinda blahhhhhhhh.

Anabelle is okay. I took her to the vet today and she has ear infections in both ears. $200 later I have ear drops to give her 2x daily for a week, ear wash to clean out her ears 1x/ week for awhile, she got an injection at the vet, and I got 4 months of flea medicine. And I had $40 in coupons too.

I left work early today so I could get her to the vet and then just stay home and rest. After the vet we came home and Anabelle and I slept for about 3 or 4 hours. Tomorrow is Phase 1 LEAP and then I just need to get through 3 more days and then a whole 10 days off for Spring Break!! :woohoo:

The dr's office called to make an appt for me to get the gifted testing results- I have to go into the office to get them, and not until Thursday! Ugh! Don't they know I'm going crazy over here? I'm tempted to call and say I can't make it on Thursday and can't they just tell me over the phone?

That is annoying to have to wait what feels like forever!

I did not mean to overlook the birthdays for Erica and Sienna! :cake::bday:party:

No hurry on the pics.

I hope this goes for me too! I still have not posted a trip report OR photos from my WDW trip that was two weeks ago! :scared1:

Should I do a dedicated Trip Report over in the TR section like Cara did, or embed it into this (and WFD) threads? I'm leaning towards giving it a dedicated thread in the TR section and linking to it here and WFD.

Mary- I guarantee this cold snap is making you feel bad- my sinuses are going crazy too! I hope you feel better!

Bethany- Poor you and Anabelle! Hopefully this cold weather will be finally over soon and everyone can feel better soon. Ouch at the vet bill! I would love to see a trip report- I love those! :yay:

The mailman came still with no letter from Audubon. I'm convinced someone is trying to torture me. :headache: The acceptance due back date is March 26th (if she got accepted- :rotfl:), so I'll have to get in touch with the school if the letter doesn't come by then.

Of course it goes for you too! I would do a dedicated thread and link it here and WFD.:goodvibes

Forgot to mention, I feel your pain on the doggie ear situation. Like I said, we dealt with that for 14 years.

14 years of ear trouble! I hope this is not the start of ongoing ear problems for her! I have my own ear problems! I am still putting off going to the ENT, even though my insurance should cover it without issue at this point.

I will get rolling on the TR hopefully tonight. I have a photo of the plane getting de-iced that I'm sure you'd all love to see! :lmao: It was funny the reaction of people on the plane when they announced we needed to be de-iced. :rotfl:

So I was not going to do the Princess again last year. I wasn't because it's likely going to be March 6th, with Mardi Gras day March 8th, and my friend from Virginia was planning to come down for Mardi Gras next year. So I text her and I ask her would she rather do a half marathon in WDW in 2011 or Mardi Gras in 2011. Now she is all excited to do a half marathon! :headache: :rotfl2: And as of now, she's about 4 minutes per mile faster than me!

Guess I'll see her at Mardi Gras in 2012! :lmao:

My sinuses are bothering me too. At night when I go to bed, I start coughing,UGH!

Hope you feel better!

I feel down in the dumps too. Maybe it's Spring Fever. In the evenings is when I miss Rie most.

Don't you hate having to wait for important news?

Marie's group is called the Swans. I ordered her a gold swan charm and a stuffed animal swan. When she was a baby, she had a swan rocker, which was broken in a move. it looked like this but the inside of the swan was pale blue instead of pale pink:

I Googled it and was able to find a craigslist ad from Chicago. I bought it and the woman is shipping it to me. It will be a great surprise for Rie. She can keep it in her room and one day give it to her children.

Wow alot going on with you guys....: :hug:to everyone. I hope you who are ill recover soon and you who are stressing receive the answers/resultsyou're hoping for.

Well I'm officially starting to work out again. I went shopping this weekend and reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I refuse to purchase another outfit until I've lost some weight/inches. :rolleyes1

Well this weekend will be super busy for me: going to see Wicked w/Aly Friday night, Aly has her state meet (gymnastics) on Saturday then on Sunday her school has it's Spaghetti Lunch and a play Annie (Aly's best friend is playing Annie)... needless to say I will be very tired on Monday. I think I may need to work from home that day....;)

Good luck, you can do it!

I'm having that problem too. It doesn't help that I'm going through old photos and also newer photos and :scared1: I must do something! And quick!!

Kristina - thoughts and prayers coming your way

Mary - Is it allergies? Seems like everyone is getting that kind of stuff right now. Hope you are feeling better soon. :flower3:

Lorie - I know its a tough wait. Hang in there!!

Bethany - Aww, poor Annabelle. I hope her ears feel better. Fish has occasional ear trouble. I'm always cleaning them; that seems to help. And I hope that cold you're getting goes away and doesn't affect your spring break. Feel better

Hey guys. I need serious help. Just got a call from my dad. He wants to throw my mom a surprise 50th bday party. And he wants me to "handle" it. :scared1:

Her bday is 4/18, so we're not talking tons of time to figure anything out. He's thinking 25-30 people. I don't think price is an issue. The problem will be figuring out who she would want there and convincing her to go there when it's time (she's notorious for opting out of things at the last minute).

The first thing he asked me is where could we have it. :confused3 Then he asked if we should have it catered. :confused3 Why is he asking me these things? HTH would I know? :confused3

This is SO not my thing. Any suggestions on where we can have it, what we could do, etc. etc. I think he was trying to stay in St. Bernard, he mentioned the Buccaneer Villa club and the Islenos museum - both of which I have no clue about. Any clues on what works and what doesn't work for this kind of thing? Cater? Sit down? Presents? Alcohol? Activity? Just mingle? Cake?

And oh, yeah. (He suddenly gave me a sketch pad and some charcoal and colored pencils about two weeks ago. Totally out of the blue. He said that now that I didn't have to deal with Tony, I have more time and could "get back into my art." ...He didn't care about "my art" when I was an art major!) He said "it would be nice if you could do something with 'your art' for her. A portrait or a picture of Chloe or something." :scared1: WTH?! Sure, it's just so simple to pick up a pencil and suddenly be at the top of my game again after 6 years. On top of working, planning this party for you and my general lack of interest in doing anything at all lately. :headache:

So that's my rant/desperate plea for help. Any ideas?

Awe Lorie, I know the wait is the hardest part.

Way to go Serena! I personally am procrastinating until this summer to get started on mine. My clothes are fitting a little easier but that is mostly due to the diet changes around here now that Sean is a diabetic. I still have a really long way to go. I think that you will be there in no time. I hate clothes shopping too.

Bethany, hope Anabelle is feeling better.

The kids didn't have school today due to the LEAP testing being only for 4th and 8th graders. I didn't have childcare lined up so I took a personal day. I would have preferred to go to work, minus kids... I love work days when I can get a lot of paperwork done. So instead I cleaned out a closet. I at least feel a little accomplished. I am about to take the boys and two of their friends to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Julie, that is a beautiful rocking chair.

First off, I'm older than your mom:rotfl:!
I'd call the museum and the club and ask them about a party. They may have caterers you have to use. If not, they can recommend someone. You need to ask your dad how much he wants to spend. Talk to the caterer and tell them the number of people and the dollar amount your dad wants to spend and have them come up with a proposal. If you know your mom has a particular favorite, be sure to tell them and they can include it in the proposal. Just know that the places may be booked because of the short notice.

Thanks Cara!

The kids actually jumped in the pool today............with permission:confused3..............they've just been begging us so I told them today if they could handle how cold it is......... They were in for about 10 minutes:laughing:. Then had hot showers and I made them some hot tea.

Lorie and all- Louie the Louisiana iris was planted in my pools planter this past weekend and he's not looking too happy:rolleyes1. I am praying it is just the transition. I am gonna keep my eyes on him,cuz next year, I REALLY wanna see the blooms and how he will multiply.

It was mid 70's today and things are starting to bloom all over. I am not ready for things to bloom all over yet b/c we are not done cutting back!!!
There is a bush in full bloom in my yard that I ahve no idea what it is but it is hot pink. I will take a pic and post on FB and you can tell me what it is. It's one of the bushes that we didn't know was ours- thought it was the neighbors. BTW- the neighbor BEGGED us not to cut the Crepe Myrtles b/t our houses:laughing:. WE told him we were only going to get the branches off that were over the roof line. I think he likes that it makes things more private- we are not allowed privacy fences so most people have hedges and trees and maybe a chain link(black or green) fence dividing property lines. Well, we have more than we need of that!

Been walking daily- our neighborhood is quiet and not much traffic at all. But there are really only 2 reasons to come back here- living here or visiting here. It is kinda set back.

Lori

Julie gave you some great advice, Jamie. However, if you aren't able to get a place, this is what we did for my MIL's 50th birthday surprise bash. We used a family member's backyard, made a few pans of spaghetti (easy to prepare ahead of time and warm up later) and bowls of salad. Ordered some typical NOLA party food (sandwiches, meatballs, and drumettes) and a cake and called it a night. It cost us $70 when all was said and done. Just an idea since it is short notice for you and this is a popular time of year in the party department.

Lori, your area sounds so nice.

So, Diary of a Wimpy Kid... Blah. So not my thing. It would have been better on DVD so I could excuse myself when I had enough, but the boys liked it so I guess it wasn't a total wash.

help..prayers needed please...now he doesn't want to come in town for the meeting this week with the lawyers. should have known better than to expect that he would do the right thing...:headache: he is making me physically and emotionally
