Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

OK ladies, as a true blue cajun man, it's my duty to give you some drool fuel..
Not sure if you heard, but the cast of Twilight will be playing Superbowl champs The Saints in a softball game at Zephyr stadium, Proceeds go to charity..

More info please - dates, time, that kind of stuff! Sounds interesting...

Julie - to you and Happy Birthday to Rie! I know its tough, but I'm really glad it seems to be working out. Have a great time on your trip!!

Kathy, the pics with the drinks don't look as blurry. They do look yummy!

Bethany - I can't walk into a Target and get only what's on the list. I always see something on sale, or something we could use...its a dangerous place for me (or more specifically, my budget)!!

Mardi Gras Strains Cell Phone Service
AT&T Shifts Cell Traffic From Tower To Tower

POSTED: 8:47 am CST February 18, 2010
UPDATED: 8:53 am CST February 18, 2010
NEW ORLEANS -- A lot of AT&T and T-Mobile customers complained about not getting cell phone service over the weekend and into Fat Tuesday.

AT&T said more people than ever want to share their experiences in real time, which means more texting, pictures and videos over cell phones. That, in turn, puts more demand on the network.

“What we're working on is each cell tower being able to have more capacity, more lanes on the highway, wider lanes, and then the ability to shift traffic around from tower to tower. We did this in the championship and we did this in the Super Bowl,” Sue Sperry of AT&T said.

Customers who are still experiencing problems should call AT&T customer service, Sperry said.

T-Mobile released a statement saying in part: "All services should be up and running normally at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers."

I went back to work today. I can't believe it's already 7:30pm. I liked having the whole day to myself! ;)

Here's the view we had from our balcony at BWV:

WDWFeb2010003.jpg

Not sure what's up with my camera, the pics look blurry to me.

it's a GREAT view. As far as picture quality it is clear in the forground. i mean you can see detail on the red/white "canopy" but it does look a little hazy in the background. Was your setting changed from previoous usage?

Hey y'all!

We stayed home yesterday and watched the parades from the comfort and warmth of my own home. Lazy day! Unfortunately, Erik's cold seems to be hanging on, so I'm bringing him to the dr later today.

Mary- I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's grandfather. 71 years- wow! Your family will be in my prayers.

Kathy- Welcome home! Can't wait to hear all about the trip!

Lori- Sounds like y'all had a great night last night with Sheryl & co! I can't wait to try WCC in May- was it good?

Bethany- That is quite a pile you have there. It's funny, after the parades you just look at the pile and wonder what am I gonna do with all of this junk (that you worked so hard to get!)? :rotfl:

Lorie- I think you will love WCC. Be sure and get the Canyon Skillet and let the other get a salad or another entree. The skillet is really good. The beef was a bit dry but the chicken and pork were yummy. The skillet potatoes are wonderful! And thier cornbread is yummm!

Thanks for the prayers. Yesterday we had Darryl's grandmother over for dinner. She was already talking about not being around to see the all the great grandkids grow up. She is not in the best of health herself and I think she was holding on to be around for him. This will be a hard week for her.:sad1:

Poor sweetie:hug: she's in my prayers........71 years..... wow.

We had a BLAST at AKL today!!!!!!!! Someone in the Disneyschoolers group arranged a field trip there and we were there most of the day. We met someone from Botswana there last week and my kids decided that , since we will be home for our geography fair, that we should DO the geography fair there and here. GUess what country they picked? Well, for here they picked Israel, but for the one at home, they picked Botswana. We met another girl from there today and she is getting us some info on Botswana from Botswana that we are going to pick up tomorrow. While we are there we are going to make pottery. The kids mold and paint it and then AKL fires it and you pick it up the next day. This does have a fee, but everything else was free. It was a cool day.

You could stay at that resort from 10am-11pm and have something to do every hour. It's amazing. They allow people in. It felt funny at first but we were told that we are welcome anytime and some of these moms have been dealing with them for the past couple years and they always welcome them back. Must be thier way of advdertising too;)

Anyway, we're gonna volunteer tomorrow night and we are very excited about it!

The dogs are doing better, but have had to get used to the bones with hops and chamomile and being muzzled:scared1: in thier kennel. Maybe we'll go get the mail tomorrow without them and see what they do. I am so paranoid about doing this to my baby boys that i leave notes on the door and window saying that "there are dogs inside in case of fire".

Lori

I'm pooped. Drove to and from Jackson today...yea I know I'm crazy for doing it in one day but I hate sleeping away from home now.

Here you go ladies, also just was told that Lafayette from True Blood will be on the Saints team.

THANKS :woohoo: I love Lafayette...he's hilarious.

 to you girl...poor babies. We need to get you guys into your new home and quick.

First- please pray, think, wish, whatever .....that everything is done and signed and perfect and in line to close on our house on Monday. We are getting nervous that we could lose it if we don't close. I REALLY do not get what is holding us up and my hubby is a nervous wreck. I haven't seen him quite like this. Our agent is in Canada at the Olympics(her nephew is a speed skater, Jordan Malone), the mortgage broker hasn't gotten back to our emails and phone calls today and Fannie Mae has already signed an extension from last week. The communication, that we thought was so good, seems to be falling apart.

Second- can they just leave Tiger Woods alone? I mean, he's a cheater, and all the other stuff that goes with that, but good god, leave the dude alone and stop the insane media from bothering him.

Worried in Orlando-Lori

Lori, praying that everything works out for you today:hug:

Julie, same for you. You and your husband are such great parents. Happy birthday to Rie.

Kat, I love the picture. I always wanted to stay at The Boardwalk. The slide looks like a lot of fun. Please post more (either here or facebook, so I can get my fix). I saw the pictures on facebook with the crabmeat tostadas. I thought they were yours. I didn't realize until after I commented on them, that they were someone else's pictures. She's probably wondering who in the world I am.:lmao: I gotta tell you--I laughed so hard when I saw the picture of Wall-E with the sombrero on:lmao:

Serena, I would have done the same thing. I would want to be home too:thumbsup2

Julie, I am sorry I didn't say anything yesterday. Happy Birthday to Rie! I know this has gotta be hard, but stay strong in knowing you are doing the best thing for her. In our prayers.

I made a prayer list category on my phone so I CAN remember to keep everyone who asks in prayer. It's come in handy. I do not like forgetting about prayers for people.

Heading to AKL for pottery and info on Botswana.

Waiting MORE than patiently to hear from the mortgage broker, the agent, or someone to tell us we'll have out HUD tomorrow so we can close Monday so we do not lose our house! I know Lorie will be disappointed with me, since she claimed it and all;):). Whatever happens, I am gonna try and keep my head up. I WILL cry if we lose it, but I will also know that something better is possibly out there.

No worries! You have a full plate worrying about your house.

TGIF!

Lorie prayers comeing your way my friend. That's one more stress you guys do NOT need.

I agree about TIGER...I'm over all of it and tired of hearing about it!!!

Lori - sounds like ya'll had a really fun day at AKL. Prayers and pixie dust that everything will work out.

I'm pooped. Drove to and from Jackson today...yea I know I'm crazy for doing it in one day but I hate sleeping away from home now.

I know the feeling about sleeping in your own bed.

Hey y'all!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, but I was sick and miserable all day! My body finally gave in to this cold I've been fighting off and I just rested all day. I'm feeling much better today. :thumbsup2

Erik's dr appt gave very little info- no ear infection, just an irritated throat, which is probably why he's refusing the bottle and so terribly cranky. She thinks that maybe he caught a cold and then caught another virus just after he was getting over the cold. Still no antibiotics....I swear, you have to be on the verge of death to get antibiotics nowadays. :confused3 Neither of my kids have ever gotten an antibiotic prescription- the dr always says to let the body fight the infection off itself.

Lori- I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that you close SOON! I remember with our house that it seemed like forever, and like you said, NO communication from anyone and how frustruated I was, then finally one day we got a phone call to close the next day. I didn't even believe it until after the papers were all signed!

Kathy- Can't wait for more pics!:cool1: The Boardwalk pool looks awesome!!

I'm getting soooo excited about our trip- 2 1/2 months to go! :yay: I'm doing the ADR shuffle now- can't decide what I want, keep moving things, adding things, cancelling things, etc. I'm driving DH nuts! I decided to trade Narcoosee's for Le Cellier and San Angel Inn. I would love to eat at Narcoosee's, but I think I would enjoy it more if I didn't have to worry about the kids getting antsy. I'll wait until they're older and can go to the kids' club so DH and I could enjoy it in peace!;) DH is quite excited about the Le Cellier ADR (lunch) and I want a margarita at San Angel Inn. :thumbsup2

Lorie, I hope you feel better. Erica has been sick since Wednesday night. Poor thing has been coughing and can't stop. I have a call into the Dr. to see what he reccommends for the cough.

I know you must be getting excited about your trip. Y'all are going to have SO much fun. I'm determined not to change my ADR's any more. I hope I can resist.

For our upcoming trip we booked The Wave, Le Cellier, Nine Dragons and Tony's Town Square. I haven't started the Universal stuff yet--I need to look into that:thumbsup2

Mary, that reminds me- I saw that Universal is offering "Harry Potter packages" with a stay at the Universal Resorts, beginning May 28th... I guess Harry potter will be opening at the end of May:yay:?

So far, I have ADRs at:
CRT (lunch), Le Cellier (lunch), Ohana (dinner), Crystal Palace (lunch), Garden Grill (dinner), Kona Cafe (breakfast), San Angel Inn (dinner), WCC (dinner), and Chef Mickey's (breakfast). I have one too many ADRs and have to cut one...will most likely cut Garden Grill. I'm feeling bloated just looking at this list! :rotfl:

Hey girl, a HOUSE is nothing- that's your baby girl!

I will get past it if we loose it(ugh........eventually) but our kids are far too important!

Julie –I’ve been thinking about you, how is Rie?

Lorie – I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better today. Sorry Erik is feeling bad, poor baby. Gosh, things sure have changed since Kyle was a baby, he was constantly on antibiotics as a child.

I can post more pics but unfortunately they’re mostly of food!

Mary & Lorie – Sounds like y’all have some great dining plans!
