Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Julie - I so glad things worked out at school.

Serena - prayers being said. Safe travels tomorrow.

Kyle just called and he was very excited. There were 16 pitchers trying out and only 3 made it through to next week's try-out and he was one!!!:yay:

:cheer2: for Kyle. I was telling DH about this at dinner. I'm thrilled they called him back.:cool1:

I went to the Dr's office today. I've been feeling terrible since Monday evening. Dr. says I have a sinus infection and now I am on antibiotics and decongestant.

I hope the meds work quickly and you are feeling better soon.

I agree - everybody here is so nice. Yes we all have problems but it seems like everyone here handles them like an adult and doesn't try to push off their problems on anyone else.

And yes I am at WDW right now - until next Tuesday. It's my reward for what I've dealt with this summer (with dad's issues ) and the convention that I just attended. What could be worse than being in Orlando blocks from WDW and being in meetings from dawn to midnight. I'm at Saratoga Springs and loving it.

I'll have a lot to deal with when I get home. We have to empty Dad's house - as it is on the market. Plus I need to find someplace to stay when I am there to see Dad.

My sister has told me that I cannot stay with her. I have to admit that was very hurtful. I would never take my dogs to her house (she has 4 cats), so I was surprised that she said I could not stay with her.

She has a 4 br house about 2000 sq. feet. She's had tons of financial problems, and I've helped her with a LOT of money (with no strings attached). We get along and are really pretty close so this just stuns me.

I'm glad you are getting a break at WDW. Sounds like you need it. I don't even have words for your sister and her attitude. I just don't get people sometimes.

Thanks everyone for your support. It's really sad and even though I'm angry and hurt at the teacher's behavior, I hope that for both her sake and the sake of other students that they demand she gets help.

Serena, prayers for your employee that the mass is benign.

Kat, we love you, there's no such thing as tolerating!!!! We're friends and that is what friends do:hug:

:yay::yay::yay::yay:for Kyle, my prayers will continue that he makes the team:yay::yay::yay::yay:!

Lori, I'm glad that you're having a good trip. I hope the rest of your trip goes well!!!

Hey y'all

Cara- I agree with the rest- stop planning and don't stress anymore! I always have pre-trip meltdown too...

Ok, so I am stressing about something. I never like to air my dirty laundry, but I am dealing with an issue that is causing me much anxiety. My mother, who I have been estranged from for some time now, is coming this weekend to visit and see her grandkids for the first time. I haven't seen her since 1997 (maybe 1996, I'm not exactly sure...). She heard that I had Erik, got in touch, and asked if she could see her grandkids. I said yes, provided that there is no drama or funny business- I want NONE of that in front of my kids (there are many toxic family issues here that I don't want to get into...). So she's coming on Saturday to my house to see them (she lives out of state) and my niece, who also hasn't seen her in many years, and also to meet Todd. I'm starting to freak out about the whole thing and I really just want to get it all over with. I'm even more anxious that I have to get my house clean, lol, there is no time for that! Anyway, I'm really not asking for advice or anything, not even venting because I'm not angry, I just want to release the anxiety.
I really understand what you are going through. I too have a difficult mother, but we get along reallly well 700 miles apart. I hope that Saturday comes and goes quickly for you and plants the seeds of a renewed relationship.

I am glad that I am not going crazy... I am stepping away from my planning books with my hands up.

Don't take your sisters actions too personally. Sounds like she is trying to keep some personal issues to herself in my opinion. My family is very much like that. House is a "wreck", not enough money to put on a good show, make up an excuse here, true or not... you get the picture. Only take it to heart if when you get there, she refuses to see you in a neutral location. I know that it is heard.

I hope that you have a great time at WDW. It is very well deserved (and I hope a lot less rainy this time around)

Quick fly by post to let y'all know we DID CLOSE on M&D's house this afternoon and we also have Sammie back home where she belongs.:cloud9:
:cool1: YAY!!!!

Kat, I'm so happy the deal went through:cool1: I hope Kyle starts to feel better.

Cara, I'm kinda staying away from some of the discussions. My trip is REALLY close and I don't want to read a bad review about something I booked:lmao:

Lorie, you know your mother's heart is going to melt when she sees those two adorable children:lovestruc I hope everything goes well for you Saturday.

Tricia, FAMILY:confused3!!!! Always manage to surprise us:sad2:

Lori, I am glad you are posting. I hope you and DH stay safe the rest of the trip.

I went to the Dr's office today. I've been feeling terrible since Monday evening. Dr. says I have a sinus infection and now I am on antibiotics and decongestant.

You had better get well fast.. you got a trip to get too very soon.:wizard: I did learn to stay off those restaurant board. Over there, you can hear whatever you want to (or not).

Kyle just called and he was very excited. There were 16 pitchers trying out and only 3 made it through to next week's try-out and he was one!!!:yay:

:cool1::woohoo: Way to go Kyle!

Julie, I am so glad you got Rie's issue taken care of. And I am so glad to know what Rie is short for, it was driving me nuts cause I am strange like that.

Tomorrow is picture day. Blah.. since it applies to me too, but I cut the boys hair tonight.

Lori, so glad you are having a good time. Your facebook updates are a pure riot. (not the fall one)

Hey y'all,

I don't check in one morning & all kinds of stuff happens!!!!

Kat, Yay & Yay!!!! Wow that is great, finally sold the house & Kyle has a great day too!!!:worshipThank the Good Lord for that. You really deserved some good news!

Julie, I'm glad the meeting with the principal went so well. That teacher sounds like a real nutjob! I pray that this is the end of it.

Lorie, I have to say you sound amazingly calm about this. I'm glad she's finally coming to see those beautiful children. I will be praying for a good meeting with no drama. I know you must be feeling really nervous about this.

Tricia, I'm glad you're in WDW! You deserve a break. I'm sorry your sister is acting that way, it's confusing.

Mary, I'm glad you went to the dr.! I hope you feel better soon.

I think I'm fighting a sinus infection myself. After I brought A to school this morning & came home, laid down & didn't wake up until noon!

Lori, I hope the rest of the trip is great! Prayers for a pain-free foot & bootie!:goodvibes

Morning!!!

I had this long post typed and it poofed:mad:.

How is everyone and your children today?

It's my SIL's birthday-she is really more like a sister and I'm taking her to lunch.

Y'all have a good day!!!:)

Morning y'all,

I hope everyone is doing well today!
I still have this sinus thing going on, not feeling right, but not sick enough to go to the dr.
A woke up on her own this morning & got dressed without prodding! She had a rough afternoon at school & after I picked her up with her stomach hurting & started complaining again while she was eating breakfast. Chris thinks it's normal for her to still be hurting. She's doing very well in school, she had about nine tests/quizzes to make up & her lowest was a 95! :yay::banana::worship: Now doing homework, ugh, that's not going as well.

Kathy - Were you able to sleep last night? My mind would've been on overdrive. Hooray on FINALLY closing (no, you weren't being a bother) and double hooray on Kyle making the 1st cut despite being under the weather!!! One little word of advice - take it easy, so you don't end up sick. Understandably, your emotions have been all over the place this week, and it's exhausting. Take your time. We'll be here if you need us.

Rie's mom- emotional rollercoaster for y'all as well, huh? Hope the school issues are done and she has a boring rest of the year!

Shovan - Happy to hear Miss A is back to herself. Their resiliency is amazing.

Get well wishes to all of you who are fighting the sinus funk. This crazy muggy weather is certainly not helping.

Lorie - P&PD that Erik gets over that nastiness, especially so you can get some sleep so you can be yourself this weekend. Try not to stress.

Tricia & Lori- Hope the Disney days are enjoyable! I'd love to be there myself!

Boring would be excellent!!!:rotfl:

Hey y'all!

Julie- Neutral is exactly where I'm trying to stay right now (to keep myself sane...). My niece asked how I was feeling about all of this, as she is having some mixed feelings, and I told her I was trying my best to stay neutral and emotionally detached. I know there won't be any blowups, but it is going to be awkward as hell. Thankfully my children are going to be focus of the visit and will act as buffers.

Kathy- Yay!!!on the closing of the house- I know you must be so relieved! And congrats to Kyle too!

Sheryl- Ugh, I woke up with sinus ick too. Hope you feel better.

Tricia- Enjoy your time in Disney! Sorry about the situation with your sister- I know how hurtful that must be. Believe me, I know all about family dysfunction.

Bethany- How is it going at work?

Erik slept great yesterday, and is sleeping good today as well (so far...). So I've managed to get some things done around here. :cool1: I've got Sienna dusting the bottoms of the bookshelves right now....well she IS closer to the floor than I am...;)

Sheryl - glad that A did so well on all her tests; thats great!:woohoo: I imagine that she will have good days and bad days for a while. I hope you get some rest - I know you’ve probably run yourself down with all that was going on over the last few weeks.

Lorie - I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well with your Mom’s visit. I’m glad Erik seems to be better and is sleeping for you.

Julie - emotional rollercoaster indeed. Ya know, I really love my kids, but I am SOOO glad that they are out of school. Well, DD is in college - but she handles everything now. I listen, offer advice, but that’s as far as it goes. With DS, I give my DIL lots of love and hugs. She’s a saint for putting up with him.:littleangel: :rolleyes1:rotfl: I hope you enjoyed your lunch date!

Our 2 sons are on their own and 3 more years for Rie.

Lunch was canceled because on of my nephews is sick. That was good for me though ( sorry he's sick, of course)-I think that either I'm coming down with something or the emotional upset of the past few days has caught up with me. I feel yuck.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hopefully you're not coming down with anything. How awesome that Alexis is breezing through her make-up work and those grades are incredible!:thumbsup2

It was difficult but I felt like two huge weights were lifted, the house and Sammie was back home. And I was worried about Kyle, he was feeling really bad last night. I do need to take it easy, my vacation is one month from today and I have to be well!!!!

Great that he's sleeping so well and you've got your cute little helper helping Mom with the chores.:thumbsup2

Oh no, hope you're feeling better!

Lorie, Sorry you've got the ick too! I'm glad Erik slept last night, I hope he keeps that up!

Julie, I hope you're not getting sick!

Lauri, I have to say, I'm thrilled to be able to help out with Alexis, but I'm already feeling the school stress. I just pray she continues to do well. Today she came home with another pack of tests papers! It looks like there is at least one test a day & this is just 1st grade. She's so funny though, she stood up on the coffee table to show me her tests papers! But you should have seen her face when she got to the middle of the pack, she had her first B & was totally upset. I had to explain over & over it was okay.

Kat, Prayers that Kyle gets well!

Is today Lori's last day in DW? That's always so sad!:sad1:

I'm home!!!! Kodi and I are lying on the couch. I just love the undivided attention I receive from her after I return from a business trip. :lovestruc

Kathy I hope Kyle recovers soon.

Sheryl that is too funny....she is crying over her 1st B. :)

Lorie - I am so happy for all of you that Erik is sleeping through the night. :yay:

Julie - girl take care of yourself.

Morning ladies!

Serena - Glad you're back safe and sound.

I still feel pretty sick but the headache is better. If I still feel bad tomorrow, I'll go to the walk in clinic just to make sure that it isn't the flu. I have masks that I bought during the scare last spring and I will wear one to the doc's office if I have to go in to protect myself from the flu and to protect others if I do have the flu. Fingers crossed that it's just allergies.
Kat, I'm just about finished your planner!

Morning,

How y'all are?!

I'm okay. Still feeling funky but not sick. Trying to decide if I'm up to heading to Mandeville tonight. My niece Kaitlyn is in a musical over there. Nothing much else going on here.

Julie, I hope you just have a sinus thing & not a flu.

I hope Lori & crew had a great trip.

Tricia too!

:grouphug:

GM gang!

Whew I just shampoo'd all 3 of my bedrooms carpets....I am pooped. :lmao:

Julie & Sheryl I hope you two bounceback quickly.

Sheryl and Julie - I hope you are feeling better soon.

Serena - I'd be poop'd too! I'm sure that was fun!

Seems quiet here today. Hope its because everyone is having a fun day!
