Metal Detectors at Security

So we just got back from Disney World a few weeks ago and they no longer do the bag searches. They had these metal detectors that you could walk thru and you only needed additional screening if it beeped. Just wondering if they brought those to Disneyland? If not they really need to because esp now with covid the lines seem like they could get nuts. I hope they do if they haven't yet.

Yes, they had those ever since DTD reopened. Much faster than the previous ones.

I have been to DTD several times including last weekend and they did not have the same ones as at WDW. The ones at WDW you carry your bags through instead of having someone look in the bag and then having to put it on the table while you walk through the scanner. The bag only gets checked at WDW if there is a beep when you carry it through the scanner. Mine did on the day it predicted rain and I had my umbrella. Told next time to take that out and hold over my head and my bag should then be ok.

ugh that is what I was afraid of. Man they really need those cuz with Covid I could see the lines going back to Katella LOL

DTD tested that style of bag check detectors last year for a short time. I have not seen them return. As pp have said, right now they are using the standard metal detectors and CMs go through your bags like before.

Dang it! I must have visited during the test period and it was so nice I just assumed they would keep them.

Yeah, I have no clue why they wouldn't keep them, it would allow for less staffing costs, make lines faster and help with social distancing as well as reduce the need for someone to rummage through people's bags.
