Merging reservations

So we pieced together 3 nights at Poly, one night at a time. So it's 3 separate reservations. Asked MS chat to merge the reservations into one. They are all Poly lake view studios on consecutive nights. Chat said no problem, they'll put in a request and I should get a confirmation in 5-7 business days. Is that normal? In other posts I've seen on this it seemed MS was able to do this pretty much instantly. I'm not mad about it, the trip is not until September so no big hurry. Just seemed strange that this request would take so long.

Yes. It's normal for Chapek's Disney.

It's the new normal when it comes to combining multiple reservations into a single reservation.

Interesting, good to know. Luckily I'm in no hurry, I was afraid I had done something wrong with the way i made the reservations or something.

MS merged my three reservations via chat last month. No wait, so I’m surprised that’s the new standard.

I called last Friday to merge two reservations and I got an email alerting me they were merged this morning.

I have this mental image of a small, smoke-filled room and a handful of CM's sitting around wearing visors and working on paper ledgers, which is where all our reservations are "stored" and managed. It's all manual and not a computer to be seen!!

"Hey Jack, JoeA just called and wants to combine two nights and you have the ledger for BCV, can you change it?"

"Sure, I'll do it next week when I get through this stack of paper!"

Im waiting on the same thing. I have a Poly studio in September across 5 reservations for 7 nights! It's the NEW normal. Previously they did it while you were on the phone. 24 hours about now and still not merged(as expected).

Am I able to merge a reservation that I made with one that someone else has made for me, if I rented points from them, because we didn’t want to do a point transfer? The nights would all be together at the same resort.

No. Merging into one reservation requires being booked on the same membership.

What You both need to do is ask them to note this is a continuous stay and each list the others reservation number in hopes you don’t have to switch rooms.

We never have but I do confirm at check in just in case as that is when it could be fixed if it didn’t happen

You cannot merge reservations that were made with different memberships. That would be true even if both memberships belong to you. You could ask MS to put a "continuing stay" note on the reservation you made and ask the person that you rented from to do the same.

We've done the room merge a couple times in the past few years, and we've done it through MS Chat, and it usually has taken 2-3 days to complete. It wasn't bad.
