Memory Maker question

Okay, so I just purchased Memory Maker. It asked me to chose someone in my party to link it too when I purchased it. I chose myself. My question is will it work for everyone in my party or does it only work if I am with them? Also, is this worth the money? Do you get the photos electronically online or do you get a disk? You print all of your own photos correct? Thanks for any advice. Hoping that my DH doesn't end up considering it a waste of money.

When I was there last year, I linked it to myself and it worked for everyone in my party. Just be sure that your group is created in myDisneyExperience. My husband didn't have his own account, so everyone was within my account. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Memory Maker can be very worth it depending on how you use it. We got all of our ride photos (which we love to see), and we did a lot of character meals, so we got all of those photos. If you see a lot of characters and actually take the time at some point in your trip to get pictures at the major parts of the parks (Castle, Hat, etc), then you will have a ton.

However, I feel that the package was worth it for one reason, and I would buy it again for this: Jedi Training.

Not only did I get a bunch of great action shots of my son, but you also get borders. He thinks the pictures of him with the Star Wars borders are so cool. You can save your pictures in different sizes and with different borders, so it multiplies the number that you get, but you have to do it and then download everything before your pictures expire on the website. Pictures are downloadable and a CD is extra now.

I think the best thing for your hubbie to feel the worth is to be sure make a book after you get home. You can use any service like shutterfly or Costco, so it's not that expensive, and you get a great memory piece your hubbie and the kids can all tangibly hold. Also, this allows you to put personal photos into the book as well.

Belle was also fun, especially if your child participates in the show. It allowed me to see all of the moments with my own eyes and enjoy them instead of constantly being behind a camera. (But if a shot is REALLY important to you, get it with your own camera too, because sometimes lighting/angles/eyes closed/any imperfections come in the Memory Maker photos, and you don't want to be mad that you don't have a picture of that special moment.

I love Memory Maker. It will work for everyone in your friends and family list on MDE, but if they have their own MDE account you need to make sure that the box that says "share photos" is checked. You will not see that box if you manage their account. You do not get a CD, you get the ability to download all the photos as many times as you need during a period of time. The website is slow so dont wait until the last day before you do this, in case you have problems. The value of MM increases if you do lots of character visits, and have anything "special" planned like, as PP said, Jedi Training or BBB, or a character meal with a special photo.

Agree with the others - everyone you travel with will get their pictures even if they aren't with you at the time they have one taken. As long as you either manage their account (like your kids or an adult without their own MDE account) or you connect as "family and friends" and make sure to set preferences as "this person can view and purchase my photos". Then they just wear their band on a photo ride or have photographers scan the band after taking photos.

I love it! But agree it's important to *do* something with your photos when you get back - frame them, make a book. . .

Stop at many photographers in the parks, also ask if they do "magic shots" (they get you to pose in particular ways and then a character or special effect is added digitally to your photo)

Ride rides with photos - Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, 7 dwarfs, Buzz in MK; Dinosaur and Everest in AK; Test Track in Epcot; Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror in DHS

Photos of Jedi Training alone were worth it for my family too! They also take lots at BBB, Pirates League, Enchanted Tales.

Kcpinwdw is right - the site is slow, so although you have 45 days from the date your first picture was taken to make edits and do the download, don't leave it too late!

Lots of threads on the topic of Memory Maker that you can peruse to get info and others opinions. This thread has some good info, also see the links in my post for more great info:

Sell me on Memory Maker

I love my Memory Maker pix from last year and have made many shutterfly scrapbooks with them. I will have MM for my trip in November, too.

Here are just a few pix from my MNSSHP day. The top two pix are a couple of scrapbook pages I designed. I drew the Hitchhiking Ghosts and added them to the photo and I added Tinkerbell and fireworks to the top right photo.

I have no clue why my letters are so big in the above post and why my photo didn't attach, but it won't let me edit it either. :/

It was entertaining. I thought you were a MemoryMaker super fan. :P

Lol. I tried for 20 minutes to fix it, and finally gave up. Idk if it's my iPad or this site, but it's just not cooperating for me. Although, I wouldn't mind if everything was that size font, I can pretty much read that with a little squint without my bifocals. :magnify:

Deleting...it posted twice. I give up, I'm not meant to post today. :badpc:

As everyone else stated, it will link to everyone in your group as long as everyone is tied to you.

I just got back two days ago and felt the Memory Maker was totally worth it. The photos are high quality, you can have as many as you want taken in the most perfect photo areas, and they all save to your Photo Pass account where you can edit them. Also, they know when you're on a ride, so any ride that takes pictures of you is automatically uploaded to your account (however, I scanned my band after each attraction just in case). Also, for ToT and SDMT, it puts together a short video with professional video edits and then inserts the live video footage of you from that ride into the video, which I thought was really cool.

Be sure to ask about the "Magic Shots". It seems most photographers do not do these unless asked. Those were a nice surprise to see when viewing the pictures from the current day.

Also, to see all photos and videos, they recommend viewing them on a PC / laptop instead of a phone or tablet (apparently not all photos and videos load on MyPhotoPass on those). However, I did see most of mine on my phone.

Just FYI, my brother said that one of the photographers told him that only the ones without tripods can "add the magic". I don't know how true that is though.

I didn't know that, but that's good to know! Even the ones without the tripods didn't really advertise it. Probably around 10/15 magic shots we had to ask for. They use the Stitch one a LOT.

Our first trip to WDW, the photographer over by Pirates told us aboutthe magic shots and we did the "fighting Captain Hook" one. We did a few others, but during our second trip we went out of our way to find as many of the magic shots as we could. We asked every single photog at Animal Kingdom if they had the "holding baby Simba" shot and finally someone told us who could do it and we ran over there.

I love the photopass pictures, though. We stop for almost all of them, unless there's a line.
