Memory Maker...and discounts besides the pre-order?

Yeah, that's the bummer...

I bought a 13-month DVC Gold pass, intending to use it for this trip (Oct 15-20) and next year (Oct 21-26) and then buy a multi-day pass for our 2019 trip (Oct 19-26). Then, I realized that my friend who is going with me this year is eligible for the military salute ticket. So I opted to have her purchase a 5-day park-hopper ($260!) and I saved my 13-month gold pass to activate on my trip next year and use it in 2019 also. My 2018 and 2019 trips will be with my family so we certainly want the Memory Maker for those trips.

So now, my friend and I (2 women in our 40's) are trying to decide if we want to purchase it for the ride photos. She has a borderline inappropriate love of Mickey Mouse so I am sure that there will be some character photos as well. We currently do not have any character meals booked, but we ARE going to MNSSHP. I don't know how many lines for photos we will be willing to stand in so I am not going to factor that into my decision. We probably won't take another trip together and we've wanted to do this for a LONG time so we really want some pictures...but it's so hard to digest the $180 price tag.

This. Make sure you look at the types of annual passes, and price out annual pass versus multi-day pass plus Memory Maker. Depending on your travel plans, it might be cheaper to get the annual pass.

Thanks! I will have her call. Is this the price for both on-site and advance purchase? We have no need to get it until we are onsite but if it has to be ordered in advance to get this price, then we will be sure to add it before we leave.

It is NOT available for purchase online or over the phone - they have to verify your military ID when purchasing - This is also the only way to purchase the miltiary priced Halloween and Christmas Party Tickets - I would suggest getting to your first park as early as possible to get it taken care of first thing - you can NOT do it at a resort

Thanks! We are planning on lunch at Sanaa at 11:30 on our arrival day and then heading over to the Studios. We will take care of the purchase at guest services as soon as we get there then.

My sister is military and will be arriving several days prior to my families arrival. Our vacation is overlapping, but we will be staying another 5 days after she leaves. She is going to buy Memory Maker.

If our reservations are linked (we can see each other's fast pass reservations) will my family photos get saved to her Memory Maker even after she checks out? Does it matter if we are at the same parks on the same days? When I called Guest Services the CM I spoke with said she thought it would carry on even after my sister checked out. There was a lot of hesitation in her voice. This is not something I want to take a chance on. If it is going to stop working the day she checks out, I will buy on my own, but want to make sure I do it before the three day window so we don't loose any memories! Has anyone had this experience with overlapping reservations? Advice??

Ask her for her Magic Band.

We went as an extended-family group of 10 and I was the only one with a Gold Pass. To make sure everyone's pictures made it on to the MM, I gave one of my old MB's to my mom and one to my sister. That way, when mom and dad or my sister and her family had their pictures taken, they all showed up in my account. I was assured that since they are linked as my family and friends, they would have shown up anyways, but I didn't want to take that chance. The PhotoPass did not expire until my Gold pass expired so that was not an issue. Any Magic Band linked to your sister's MDE account will work.
