A lot of people talked about adding life to their mattress with a memory foam mattress topper so I decided to give it a try. Mine does not come with a a cover, do you use a cover on it? could I use our quilted matress pad that we use now over it?
I've been debating getting dd's tempur-pedic mattresses (dh and I have one and love it!), but just don't have the $2000 or more right now to do that... so I was at Kohl's the other day, saw they had the toppers 50% off, so ended up getting a 2-inch one for older dd..
But wondering if I should to put a mattress cover over it at all.. or just use the fitted sheet?
My sons mattress was very firm so I got a soft topper for him. I put the mattress cover over it and then the fitted sheet. The mattress cover ripped so I removed it and just covered it all with the fitted sheet. Works both ways.
Helps to lay it out for a couple of days before using to get rid of the smell.
I've had a great foam mattress topper for 3 or 4 years now. Love it! Makes my older mattress seem brand new and I get the best night's sleep every night with it. I have a good thick mattress cover that I put over the topper and mattress together, then the sheet. No way to clean that foam so better to keep it protected IMO.
My son has a temourpedic type mattress and was passed the age of wetting the bed. But heck, accidents happen and his bed was not covered. What a pain airing out and trying to clean that big sponge mattress. Definitely use a cover of some sort.
Before we got our TempurPedic we had a 3" topper on our Sleep Number that I just put on the mattress and covered it all with the quilted mattress pad cover.
