Hi!! I've transferred my photos to my computer, so when it's time to go to Disney, should I reformat my memory card so I have a "fresh" card, or is it better to just buy a new one?:confused3 Thanks!!!!

Double check to see if all the images have been downloaded to your computer, then you can format it using your camera.

Suggestion: If you haven't, please store the photos in at least two different places. I store mine on two different external hard drives and have many on my Flickr account. The purpose of this is just in case a hard drive breaks you don't lose all your photos. I don't know how many pics you plan on taking nor the size of your card, but if you only have one card you may need more or an alternative place to store your images so you can clear the card. For a weeks trip, I usually take 4,000-5,000 images. I download each night to a laptop hard drive and an external hard drive, then clear the cards for the next day. Its sounds like a lot of work but it beats the alternative of losing your vacation memories.

Thank you, it's a 4 gb card and I don't have a laptop (we live in the stone age!!!) So I was just going to clear all of the images from home and have my card cleared for the trip. I think it will be safe to say I won't take more than 500-600 photos, I'm new to this whole photography thing!!:goodvibes

There's no need to buy a new card, just reformat in camera once you've made sure you have all the images that are on there safely downloaded and backed up.

4 GB wont get you more than 200 RAW images on a DSLR, check your cameras settings to optimize image quality, even on our compacts I think a 4gb without video gets us around 350

You didn't say whether your camera is a point and shoot or a DSLR. If it's a point-and-shoot, you most likely can't shoot in RAW, and 4GB if plenty if you're shooting in jpg mode. With that said, it's always a good idea to have an extra memory card (and batteries). Memory is very affordable these days. The spare memory is not just for extra space, but it's also a backup in case your other card fails.

New cards scare me. I like cards with a little bit of history. Bad flash can fail pretty quickly right out of the gate.

Run a disk check on your cards from your PC. If clean, format in your camera.
