Ecost.com has a 1gb SD card for $21 but it's "Patriot" brand. I've heard of them but does anyone have an experience with them?

They also have the Sandisk Ultra II 1gb SD card for $39. I know that's a good price but it's still nearly double the Patriot brand.

How about Dane Electric? PNY?

I never heard of Patriot. But I know for a fact that Dane Electric SD cards were manufactured by Toshiba. Sandisk Ultra II, depending on your camera and application, is a much faster card... at least for downloading images to your PC.

That is a low price for the Ultra (for a CF anyway, not sure about SD). eCost is rated low on resellerratings.com (sorry, tried to insert the link to the actual eCost reviews, but the linking function isn't responding).

The folks here will tell you to watch out for counterfeit Ultras and other higher-cost cards (although, as they also say, as long as you are getting the performance you want, what difference does it make). I just don't want to go thru the hassle of finding out I am not getting the expected performance, and then have to deal with returns/exchange/etc.

Good luck!

I strictly use Lexar, Sandisk, SimpleTech or Transcend CF and SD cards for my cameras. They have been very reliable and Lexar includes a data recovery software with their professional CF cards.

All of mine at Scandisk and they are great. It just so happened that each time I bought one the was a 15.00 rebate. So that made them cheaper than the other of course I had to wait 4 weeks to get the money.

I also have PNY CF cards and they seem to be pretty reliable. They don't have the same performance as the SanDisk Ultra IIs however.

oops quoted the wrong place but....

i read the ecost reviews also ( after i ordered from them  ) and i have to say both my orders were shipped with in mins of placing the order .arrived perfectly and on time/early and work fine and i have gotten 2 of the 5 rebates back( it's been early so far, the rest should be coming any day) so i have no complaints. don't know why others have had problems,,that's just my experince with them...although i do notice their prices are not always that much lower. i got my last cards at newegg and they ( newegg) were fantastic but i haven't gotten those rebates yet either( not quite due)

I only have the SanDisk brands so I am of no help, but I did want to tell you, Charade, that your new "tag" made me laugh. Sorry about those lost tags!

Check out buy.com (especially for those using SD cards!!) They have some great prices on memory cards. Kingston is a great name as is Sandisk. I also use Viking.
