Memories of the DREAM come true ….. 08/09 All 30 days done!

I love your decorated door. Sort of like decorating your resort windows at DW.

Please remind me again what a Fish Extender is? I know I've heard you mention it several times but I'm just not sure how it works. Thanks.

Tom takes great pride in making those decorations! :goodvibes He came up with even better ones for our February cruise. :thumbsup2

Fish Extender: If you go back to the photo of the door there is a "pocket-thing" that looks like Lederhosen hanging on the right side of the door. That is the Fish Extender (it "extends" the Fish/Seahorse that is there).
On the cruise board you can join your cruise meet group and hopefully they will set up a FE exchange. Which means, you sign up to take part and get a little gift (or several, like we like to do ;)) for everyone who has signed up. You then secretly deliver your gifts to the staterooms.
Whenever you'll come back to your stateroom there will be something in the extender, lots of fun little gifts. Some "survival packs", some fun things from the areas the people come from. Lots of sweets and other goodies.
For us it is not so much what we actually receive, but the surprise. Tom and I make homemade gifts and deliver every day. Some people do it once.
It is a lot of fun!

Any more questions .... please, ask! :goodvibes

Day 13, August 25

Crossing paths with Irene - Part 1

We got up around 7pm that morning, had a shower and got dressed, took our passports and cruise paperwork for the next cruise and walked downstairs to Animator’s Palete for breakfast.
We were seated and exchanged gifts with our tablemates before ordering our breakfast.

IMG_1447.jpg

Everyone ordered drinks and as always I ordered Hot Tea,and some orange juice as well. Needless to say that despite that we had a lot of fun with our servers, that Hot Tea never made it to our table.
I ordered the Almost Home, Corn beef hash, fried eggs and bacon skillet topped with fried onions, while Tom had ordered the Route 66, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham and hash browns.
We were talking so much and exchanging email addresses that I completely forgot to take photos. All too soon it was time to say goodbye for the last time,

IMG_1454.jpg

one more hug and everyone was off in another direction. One more thing to note, from now on I was always offered and brought my Hot Tea as Pete, Paige's father had mentioned to Sapto and Ana that I always order it, and never receive it.
So they both took good care of me and my tea.
Once we had left the restaurant it was time to head off the ship.

IMG_1455.jpg

We signed off, took the escalator down to where they store the luggage and asked for the line for international passengers.
It snaked around the far right of the room and we were soon in front of the officer, who looked at our paperwork and then congratulated us for being able to go back on the ship.
Once outside we asked where to go and were pointed towards the elevator that went up to the terminal building again. They told us to take a seat until they opened the check in desks, which was supposed to be at around 10am and then we could check in again and would be given a boarding number, which would allow us to board the DREAM as the first passengers again.
We sat down, Tom edited the photos, we took a few more pics

and waited.
After some time a few more back to back cruisers arrived and we finally found some that were in our meet group, so we started chatting. It didn't take long and they actually started checking the back to back cruisers in. We got in line and were asked to step aside and wait until they had found a Cast Member that was able to process the check in for international cruisers. We were handed a new set of lanyards and off we went to wait a little longer.

Around 10.30 the first new cruisers came upstairs and our group was called on board.

To be continued ..........

I love seeing the Cruise photos - and especially the way you include so much...it's like a mini trip for us at home and the closest I will ever get to a ship and/or cruise. Even the pictures give me chills! :guilty:

Is Mickey always there to greet guests as they board? That is pretty neat! Love those photos together...one leads right to the next! :thumbsup2

Okay...so we wait for the Irene run in!!! Talk about a cliff hanger!!!:scared1:

As I was looking at the pics, was thinking what experienced Cruise you two have become - you must be getting up with the top Disney Cruisers, yes? Very cool! :goodvibes

Hope you & Tom feel better tomorrow.

When we boarded the Dream last year, the person announced right befor DH and I was the lady from the DIS Boards that was on her what I think was her 82nd cruise!

I think it would be a great feeling to get off the ship and right back on instead of having to go straight home and thinking how quickly the cruise was over.

I have been waiting to hear all about your next cruise and the hurricane.:scared1:

Karin I am hoping the PM was the one re your new TR which I did subsribe to or have I missed something else!!:rotfl2:
Samantha has to do a paper on Freiburg Germany in prep for her trip!! I was unable to attend the meeting and so did not get toask IF that was where they would be staying or visiting and of course neither Judy or Samantha asked :confused3
So I am gonna google it and see if I can get afeel for why they maye going there

I am so glad you like the photos. I really wish there was a way for you to try cruising - it is a such a wonderful experience!

There are always some characters around to keep cruisers entertained and as a photo op. So far we have seen, Mickey, Minnie and Donald, but then we just rush to get on the ship, so there may be more! :goodvibes

Okay...so we wait for the Irene run in!!! Talk about a cliff hanger!!!:scared1:

Sorry about the cliffhanger. We weren't as impacted by the storm as some people in the NY area, who were hard hit and some could not make their cruises.
Our "worst" impact was that the ship was rocking a bit more than usual, many new cruisers had a hard time with it and threw up all over the ship. It was really hard on the CMs as they had to put two chairs left and right of the "mishap" and then "man" their station there, so no one would step into it. I have never seen so many sea sickness bags all around the ship (to be honest this was the first time I have seen any. :rotfl2:).
Good thing - we had the dining room mostly to ourselves! ... and the rocking made us really HUNGRY! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Judging from the attendants of the captain's reception (only gold and platinum CC members invited) there are a lot of cruisers who have MANY cruises under their belt.
It just makes me happy that we climbed up the ladder pretty quickly.

Hope you & Tom feel better tomorrow.

Thank you, Christine!

Over 80 cruises???? :scared1: Wohoo, someone must really love cruising (and own a bank or something :rotfl2:)

It was the best feeling ever to just make a beeline and up the elevator again! So peaceful, sitting up there, walking out on the deck and admiring the ship. And then once they allow you back on it feels like you have the WHOLE ship to yourself for an hour or so! :cloud9:

Irene wasn't as bad (for us) as it was for everyone else back home. Captain Henry kind of worked his way around the storm and we only got the outer banks!

Yes, Rosie it was all about my new Trip Report! Since you are planning on going on a cruise I thought you might be interested and since the thread grew rapidly I didn't want you to fall too far behind!

I am sure there will be lots of helpful information about Freiburg on the internet. Have you tried Wikipedia? Sorry i cannot help ....
Are they going to visit somewhere in Austria? I might be able to give you a few hints in that direction! ;)

Crossing paths with Irene - Part 2

Around 10.30 the first new cruisers came upstairs and our group was called on board.
The DREAM was empty and we had them to ourselves, so we went to take photos of the Atrium,

The ship is absolutely amazing ... that's why I am trying to "sell" it to you, you would love cruising on her ... maybe not right into a hurricane, but cruising per se! :goodvibes :lmao:

Wow. You had the ship all to your selves. It is beautiful.

It was the best feeling! We were allowed on about 45 minutes before the regular cruisers came back on and in the meantime we had her all to ourselves. All the areas were open and it was wonderful to explore without lots of other happy cruisers! :rolleyes1

What wonderful pictures :goodvibes

A lovely way for me to start my day as always Karin :)

Glad you like them, Linda! :goodvibes
Not much longer and you will get to enjoy her sister ship! And I am truely jealous! :goodvibes

I'm feeling homesick for my ship! :goodvibes I can't wait to sail her again!

Then we walked up to deck 5 to check out more enchanted art and try to follow Tink to Neverland.

We then went on deck 4 and watched the crew getting ready to greet the first guests.

We were standing at the balcony and suddenly I felt a tap on the shoulder. I turned around and there was Goofy, laughing away and offering a pose for a photo or two.

Needless to say we jumped on the opportunity. After a few photos Goofy waved at us when he left and we watched the first guests being walked onto the ship.

We still stayed for a while, before we went to the Enchanted Garden for lunch again.

The next disney trip that I am getting dh to go on will be our 25 year anniversary. He agreed to go to WDW for food and wine. Now though, since I will be doing that this year... I wonder if going on a cruise would be a better idea.
