Memories of the DREAM come true ….. 08/09 All 30 days done!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

You meal at CG looks oh so yummy! And your service!! I think when you receive good service it turns any meal into an outstanding one.

And yay on the dismeet. I think that meeting people on our trip was definitely a highlight. Someday... I hope our trips plans align. :goodvibes

Great update, Karin. The food looks yummy (my bosses daughter is being taken to Disney World next month by her husband for her 60th birthday; he asked me to recommend a special dinner and I told him to take her to California Grill!).

I'm glad you were able to get Ron.

Thank you, Kathy!
Your boss's daughter is going to love CG. I hope they timed it right and they can watch the fireworks from the deck! :thumbsup2

We had a very nice and very relaxed Christmas. I just posted photos on my pre-trip report! :thumbsup2

We were blown away by Ron's service and felt very very special! :cloud9:

Aren't DISmeets fun? We loved the ones we had this summer.
As for maybe meeting up ...... I am hoping on 2013, when we go to DL. Maybe, just maybe we can meet up there! Would make it extra, extra special for us! :thumbsup2

Ok, I will plan on heading south in 2013!

What wonderful service at CG

Great food but made so much more special by great people :goodvibes

What a great meal you had. And when the service you receive is beyond amazing, it makes for the dining experience so much more enjoyable. So glad you had such a nice time. The food looked outstanding. We love going to CG but for a family of four, we don't do it very often.

Hi Karin! How nice to have such a wonderful friend and server to give you such a great experience! :santa:

I think we would have eaten anything while receiving that amazing service. ;) :lmao:

No, honestly, being treated so nicely made us feel extra special and it added so much to our experience.

Thanks Chris!
CG is the one restaurant we need to go to every trip at least once. The food and atmosphere is just amazing - and like this time, if Ron is working, he makes it even more special for us.
Pure Disney magic! :cloud9:

Hi Karin! How nice to have such a wonderful friend and server to give you such a great experience! :santa:

Ron is really special! You really need to request him when you get back to WDW and dine at the CG!
I am sure he will let you have a most wonderful time too! :thumbsup2

Day7, August 19

Meeting Rosie and receiving special treatment - Part 4

It was Extra Magic Hour at the Magic Kingdom that night, but it was only to start at 11pm and so we slowly walked over to be greeted by a huge crowd walking towards the entrance. This meant that we were in for a packed Magic Kingdom, so we took our chance and were stopped right there in the town square by all the people waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade that was about to begin. Since there was no way to get through anyway we decided to stay and watch the parade.

Once it was over we were swept up Main Street with the rest of the people and made a right at the ice-cream parlour to hitch a ride on the Peoplemover.

IMG_0972-1.jpg

There was a line going onto the ride, but it is so nice to just sit, relax and watch the busy crowds, especially after such a large meal. Once we got off it was about time for Wishes to start so we tried to head back to Main Street, but there was NO way we could get there, so we headed towards the hub and actually found quite a nice spot to watch Wishes.

IMG_0953.jpg

It was only quarter past 10 when Wishes was over and we had 45 minutes until Extra Magic Hours were to start. You could not move an inch after the fireworks and when the crowds finally moved we just went with the flow and walked towards Tomorrowland.
After checking the line for Space Mountain we gave it a miss and just stolled over to the shops near the Speedway. We spent some time checking out the merchandise and then headed towards Cosmic Rays as we both were thirsty. We shared a large Diet Coke which we used a snack credit for and sat and chilled and waited for Extra Magic Hours to start. Once they had started we hoped for the crowds to die down, but there were still a lot of guests around.
Haunted Mansion was a 30 minute wait, Thunder Mountain had a 50 minute wait and it was too early to get drenched on Splash Mountain.
So we strolled over to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, which only was a 15 minute wait.

IMG_0975.jpg

We were seated at the back of the boat and enjoyed the ride. When we got off we checked out the store at the end and then walked towards the Jungle Cruise. The wait time was pretty short and even though we were both tired, this is a ride not to miss during Evening Extra Magic Hours.

IMG_0976.jpg

You won't be able to take in all the details of the ride, but the skippers come up with a lot of unique and extremely fun jokes. Our skipper that day was no exception. We were all in stitches and when we came to the temple, he said that he was done for the night and we either had to stay there or someone else had to steer us through this terrifying tunnel. He chose a little boy who did the job and got a round of applause from all of us. Once back at the pier the skipper told us to get out and be aware that it was a theme park out there. Again everyone was in stitches.
It was half an hour past midnight by now and we were both so tired, so even though the park was still open for another hour and a half we decided to call it a day and head back home. We picked up the car and drove back to Old Key West. It was nearly half past one when we got back and we were so tired, we fell in bed and were out like a light.

To be continued ..........

Sounds like the evening was pretty busy..even for EMH. On the last couple trips, we have certainly found that to be the case... more people in the parks for EMH. At least you had a great tour guide on jungle cruise!

Your EMH's sounded like ours (and the MNSSHP) in September...way too crowded. Don't these people know they are supposed to leave so we can enjoy? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You got some great shots of the castle.

We could not believe HOW packed it was - even getting into the park at that time of the evening there were lots of people.
On the other hand - it is just to darn hot for me during the day, so EMHs are kind of a blessing, even with so many people in the parks. I guess what did us in was the full, may I say stuffed full belly we had. :lmao:
The Jungle cruise skippers are so much more fun during EMHs - they crack a lot more "unknown" jokes and it makes the ride so much more fun. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

It was crowded - had we waited until the end of EMHs, I guess the crowds would have thinned out, but we were just too tired (and full) at that point.

But I do agree with you - we often joke that, now that we have arrived at a park the other guests "may" leave, so we can enjoy it more! :rotfl2:

We were lucky to catch that spot for Wishes and I was so surprised at how the photos came out. :goodvibes

:wave2: Merry Christmas :santa: I have been mia with work and the christmas countdown DISing had to take a back seat for a shortwhile, holidays are a great time to catch up :thumbsup2 All caught up now. What lovely gifts you received, really thoughful DISfriends :) Boatwrights, wolfgang express, krispy creme, yachtsman steakhouse, cali grill yummy yummy. CG is our fav so far. We haven't tried yachstman yet but it is in our plans for October. We fit in visits to malls, walmart and toys r us on our trips as this is part of our experience also. 3 hours in a restaurant is way too long when not planned that way, we would have had to have walked with the kiddies they would have been way fed up long before then. Your fantasmic pics are really clear, mine always turn out blurry with just smoke showing :rotfl: Typhoon Lagoon is our fav disney waterpark very relaxing park and plenty shaded areas :cool2: Looking forward to hearing about yout b2b on the dream.

You got great shots of the parade and Wishes. I was always surprise by the number of people I've seen headed to MK later at night, even without EMHs.

Apparently not! :lmao:

Question for you, Karin: Is Tomorrowland the biggest of the lands? It always seems to feel that way, not sure why.

Happy New Year!

I somehow completely missed that you had started this TR! Not sure how...just subbing here, too.

Dinner looked fabulous!
I love EMH's, but I want it less crowded. The best time is really late, but of course I am so tired then too.
Jungle cruise at night is so awesome. My favorite time to ride it.:thumbsup2

Welcome back!
I am glad you were able to catch up .... sometimes real life just has to take priority over our DISlife! ;) :goodvibes
We were stunned about all the wonderful gifts we got and we met so many wonderful people this trip.
And apart from the long wait time at mama Melrose we didn't have a really bad meal either.
And 11 nights of cruising on the Disney DREAM coming up shortly! :thumbsup2

Question for you, Karin: Is Tomorrowland the biggest of the lands? It always seems to feel that way, not sure why.

I was really surprised that the photos came out so well as I made them with my little camera. :thumbsup2 Tom's camera takes really good photos but we did not want to carry it around that night.
Well, the MK always attracts a lot of visitors and that day was no exception. Hadn't we been so stuffed to the gills and tired we might have even made it until 2am when it would have thinned out, but there was no way to do that.
And as for your question, Tina, I honestly don't know if Tomorrowland is the biggest of the lands. It feels large, but as to its real size I have no idea. :confused3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Happy New Year!

It's easy to miss one one my TRs, PTRs or DRs - I have to many going on at the same time! :lmao: But I am happy you are here now! :woohoo:

Dinner was exceptional and we really enjoyed the time at the MK, but it was just too crowded and getting to late for me.
Jungle cruise at night is the best!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Day 8, August 20

The march around the world ends in a visit to Africa - Part 1

We slept in and got up just in time to drive over to the Yacht Club Resort for our late breakfast at the Captain's Grill. On the way there we talked about the fact that spending a Table Service Credit was a waste of the credit for breakfast and we still had a few Counter Service Credits to spend. So instead of having breakfast at the Yacht Club we just walked up to the restaurant and told them to cancel the reservation and we walked outside to enjoy the resort.

Around 11am we walked over to Epcot. We walked towards France, explored the shop and then on to Morocco.

IMG_0983.jpg

The Tangerine Cafe had just opened its doors, so we decided to spend the first of our Counter Service credits there. We got in line and ordered

IMG_0981.jpg

a Chicken & Lamb Shawarma Platter, served with a side of Hummus, Tabouleh and a Tangierine Couscous Salad with fresh Moroccan bread which we shared and

IMG_0982.jpg

a piece of Baklava for dessert. We found a nice table towards the back of the restaurant and sat down and enjoyed our meal.
Once we had finished it, we slowly walked further along World Showcase, stopping in Japan to check out the store.

IMG_0984.jpg

There were lots of things to explore and when we left the Candy Lady was showing her art and we stayed and watched for a while.
Our next stop was America, where we had a good look around the heritage store and watched the flag retreat.

IMG_0986.jpg

DSC_0672.jpg

We were just standing in the sun and were hot and tired, so we could only imagine how hot these Cast Members must have been in their uniforms.
Our next stop was Germany where we searched for the hidden Mickeys in the train garden and instead of finding a hidden Mickey we found a not so hidden Austrian train running the tracks.

We needed to get out of the sun, so we headed inside the store and took a good look around. The cucumber tree still cracks me up and after getting over it we walked towards the Karamell Kueche.

I really am getting excited to see you guys, and in such a short amount of time, too. :goodvibes

Love the YC pictures. It is so beautiful over there. I often wonder if we shouldn't have just stayed at the BC again. :lmao: Nah... :rotfl:

And Happy New Year...I get confused about what I wrote on which of your threads.
