memorial day weekend?? How bad are the crowds

I have never been to Universal Studios. Thinking about taking a trip down to Orlando for Memorial Day weekend because oddly enough the hotel is cheaper?!? Hoping for one day at a theme park, and planning Universal Studios Orlando. Is this a horrible idea??? Would be great to go over memorial day to avoid my husband missing another day of work, but if the crowds are unbearable, maybe we should look an other time.

we now tend to visit the week or two prior to catch the first weeks of Star Wars weekends.

it's been a few years since we've been there over that weekend, but never thought it was 'holiday' crowded in any sense.

note that many northern schools are still in session during that time period

We've been the past couple years over Memorial Day weekend, and haven't found it to be excessive. Certainly it is more crowded than early May, etc. but nothing close to as bad as the Disney parks, for example.
