Membership Magic Beyond

That was the question i was positing above too but no one has answered that for me.
Not sure if anybody answered your question in the meantime. You cannot change the OTUP to be used for 11 month reservations. You will ONLY be able to use them for 7 month or less reservations

Yes Thank you! So I can buy them in January for July and cancel a reservation and use them closer to November.

Yes, as long as you are making the November reservation 7 months or less.

No matter what, they don’t work for any reservation made during the home resort period.

I hope I am explaining this clearly:

I borrowed 21 points from my 2026 allotment for a 7-month, July 2025 reservation. If I purchase the OTUP, can I cancel and then swap 21 2025 pts I used on my existing July reservation for the discounted OTUP to my existing reservation? This way I would be able to bank the 2025 points.

No the points you borrow from 2026 will remain in 2025 and can’t be banked they will expire by the end of your 2025 UY.

A message for all the internationals reading this thread. Make sure you email your rep or call MS to let them know you would purchase this if allowed. There are so few of us that we could never make enough noise online for them to change the rule unless a large group of us contact them directly.
im going to the condo meeting on wednesday and intend to ask (tho i expect i wont be the only one)

I'm going to do something similar, to but OTU points and then apply them to an existing reservation made within 7 months. Member Services explained that if not making a new reservation that I will need to make a "change" to my existing reservation and at that point I could modify the reservation in some way (dates, etc) and apply the OTU points.

Internally I disagreed with this assessment because procedurally a "modification" can be pushed through without any changes, and I do this when needing to reallocate points across reservations. But I accept I could be wrong in this specific example with OTU points so I listened to recommendation and booked an extra night and will play the game as recommended and, after buying OTU points, will modify down to remove one night to apply them. I'll then have extra "current use year" points that can then be banked.

There's a caveat if you used home resort priority to make your original booking that I don't think you can then replace with OTU points, but I may be mistaken here.

Or they may limit OTU points to paid membership only. For that matter, they could move all “membership” extras to ONLY the paid option.

I believe there's a legal reason why OTU points are available to all members and it isn't just a direct benefit, at least that's how Disney explained it to me before. But like my post, I take some things member services says with a grain on salt, especially now with all the new agents recently hired.

But I have some concern about other benefits jumping to behind the extra pay wall.

You’re right but you have to have the OTUP first.
Find something inside of the 7 month window that will require 24 more points (it doesn’t have to be exactly 24 it could be 24 + a few more of your points). Look at places like AKL, OKW & SSR + off peak times for VB & HHI.
Call up MS and ask to buy the points to complete the reservation for that night.
Next cancel the reservation.
If your existing reservation was made at 7 months you should now be able to click modify and select the contract that is for your OTUP.

You are correct that if you used Home Resort priority that this will not work.

Because points have no actual value, MS can only sell them as part of a reservation….which is why they require you to be booking to buy.

It is a technical way DVC gets around the transfer for rule….so, they must be bought at time of booking.

But, once you cancel that, they are yours to use because the reservation that held them was in your account.

anyone else getting a blank page when they try to look at the MMB page?

I'm trying to see if the AP renewals can be done with OTUP or borrowed/banked points.

edit: now I'm getting Stitch, I wonder if they're making changes/clarifications.

I got a 431 error whatever that is when I went with the browser I was logged in with but it pulled up when I tried an incognito page

Not sure about OTUP but I think @Sandisw mentioned they would let you borrow for cruises so I would assume the same rules would apply here.

There was something in the FAQs that said you could use OTU points…which surprised me!!

Points must be eligible for trades so only direct points and potentially resale points bought before 2012.

Confirmed that points must be eligible for trading in the Disney collection to use for AP.

Each person who purchases is entitled to one set of BOGO OTU points regardless of contracts or memberships.

Member who purchases must be there to use benefit for lounge like priority waitlis or visiting during the extended hours to visit the characters.

Going to the SSR one soon and hoping to get an answer about if more than one persons buys, and you have more than one membership, can each person get them.
