Yesterday I realized that our November stay begins on the weekend F&W ends. Currently we are booked for a Sunday-Sunday trip. We went to F&W last year for the first time and loved it. This trip is in November to celebrate our daughters birthday and experience some of the Christmas ambiance.

We are short on points because we reserved a studio for our daughter for the trip. But I would love to get down a day earlier to hit the food and wine booths.

So, would you spend the money using members cash booking to stay in the same room (BWV) or go the cheaper route and book one night at Pop or AS's?

For one night, I would go with the cash discount at BWV so that you can get settled in.

I agree, especially BWV is a great place to be for F&W!

What view do you have booked? It might be difficult to get a cash night in a standard or boardwalk view, you may have to switch rooms.

If the night is still available with points, you may also try to transfer or rent points if that would cost less than member cash price.

You could also "buy" the 24 one-yearly use points to supplement your own.

If you can afford the cash prices at BWV then by all means do that. If saving the money would be more important than the convenience then stay at the value!

For us it depends on what time of day we are arriving. When we go in May we are flying and not arriving until 9PM. I don't want to waste the money when we aren't arriving in time to enjoy it. We are staying one night at Caribbean Beach before our stay at BLT. We stayed at CB years ago before purchasing DVC so we thought it would be fun to check it out again.

Here's my approach: since it's an 8 hour drive, I typcially go through Price Line and get a room just offsite for the first night. I've scored some really good deals and we typcially want to relax that first night. Then, we hit the parks the next morning and get into our DVC room when it's available.

This is always our approach as well, what time are we arriving? If we are literally just going to sleep in the room we always go the cheaper route. This was true even before DVC and we would do regular resort stays. Although I am sure it is nice to be "settled in" on the first evening, for us it has always worked out just fine doing it the other way.

Good Luck and have a wonderful vacation!!! :goodvibes
