We attended a “Member Update” presentation at Disney Springs yesterday. Here are my thoughts on the 30 minute presentation that is supposed to be informative and stimulate you to add on.

1. Video explanation of the art details of CFW and RR. While I personally find this interesting, it does not give me any updated info or entice me to buy more points.
2. Combination of video and in-person demonstration on how to book non Disney hotels using points and cash (can use just points or a points/cash combo). This was good information.
3. Incentives. Push for 200 point add on at RR. Detailed one incentive, then another for attending. Not seeing where it is different than what your guide can send you. Push for 200 points brings the price per point to $193. Not a bargain at all. Much better incentives in the past.
4. Ended with a video montage of pictures of happy families in DVC resorts with the DVC song playing in background. Yawn.
5. Hyped a “free gift” in the beginning. Free gift is a very cheap small backpack, one per family.

If you have been following DVC news here or on other sites you already know everything that's been announced. Because of FL time share laws, they can't talk about any other coming properties. At least you did get a chance to enjoy some AC for a while.

Lack of Poly details is disappointing, but not at all surprising. They keep the Sales Team in the dark right up until the very end so that details don't leak out before DVD wants. My guess/hope is that the resort goes on sale somewhere in the next 30-60 days.

This update was uninformative. They just aren’t authorized to say anything. All they do is try to sell you CFW and RR, and even at that is was an extremely weak presentation. When I go to an “update” I would like some updates, not just a rehash of what is commonly known.
It’s an update for people that know nothing about DVC. :)

Sounds like it was a lot more informative than the “owner updates” (i.e. hard sell sessions) that other timeshare systems offer.

I am so tired, as is everyone, of the LACK of info regarding the Island Tower DVC points for sale, and what the point charts will look like.
It's no different than every other resort Disney has developed. Full and complete details won't be revealed until points go on sale. The timeline may not suit impatient customers but it is what it is.

As for forward-looking topics like a trust, you will never get an answer more decisive than "we have no plans at this time." That's just the safest way to conduct business. Disney isn't going to back itself into a proverbial corner where they cannot do something because they explicitly promised not to do it. If you aren't comfortable with that response, act accordingly.
