A couple weeks back, my family had to cancel our vacation to Disney due to a death in the family. Our vacation was scheduled from Sun Sept 30 - Fri Oct 5th and I cancelled our ressie on Sat 29th. At the time of the call I did ask about the points going to holding and they apologized but said it was the policy of DVC that pts go into holding when cancelled less than 30 days from the ressie
At the suggestion of a post on this board, I sent an email to the DVC Satisfaction team (dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationcub.com) explaining our circumstances. I understand the rules and was not expecting anything, but figured I would see what happens.
I recieved a call yesterday from member services saying they would take the pts out of holding and allow us to use them as normal points through our use year. I thought this was really nice of them, as they did not have to do this, and my letter was not written with an angry or dissatisfied tone. I made sure to say that we have been satisfied and love DVC and just hoped that we would have the oppportunity to use our points and not lose them.
So - I am happy to say that we now have our pts back and do not have to use the 60 day window. A little pixie dust was sprinkled on us. I am going to call member services today as I want to write a thank you letter to management - and let them know how well we were treated, and how appreciative we are.
