We had a trip scheduled for 1/6- 1/10 to surprise our kids and we were planning on staying at the Pop Century. We decided to use our DVC points instead of paying cash so I cancelled our ressies through Expedia on Sunday.( I know fatal mistake!) I would never normaly cancel first and have no idea why I did it but of course I call MS Monday morning and there are no rooms! Nothing!

So I panic go back to the computer and try to get our great rate at the Pop back, of course it's no longer available. I start tearing up at this point. :worried:

I call MS again in hopes they can find something, anything. Initially I only looked for studios and 1 bedrooms but I said I'd even take a 2 bedroom if they had one. I told her what a stupid mistake I made and she said oh don't stress yet let me see what I can do. She put me on hold and then came back with a 1 bedroom at OKW for the first 2 nights. She tried for the 2nd two but no luck. I was so upset at this point. How could I be so stupid!?!

But then she said why not try a deluxe resort? I figured what the heck. Well we ended up with 2 nights at the Polynesian!:flower: I know, I know it's not the smartest use of points but my kids will be thrilled, plus we really would never pay to stay there in cash so with the points we can. We ended up with 2 nights at OKW and 2 at the Polynesian.

I'm blocking out how many points it's costing so please don't remind me.;)

I'm just happy we have a place to stay!! :cloud9:

Glad you were able to reschedule your trip and the Polynesian will be a great treat for your family! :D

Why not wait list the other two nights at OKW? That is if you want to save the points.

Plus -- if you want to stay at the Poly --you may still have time to try to use the discount codes for Jan. Check mousesavers.

Glad they were able to fix it for you. And I wanted to add that staying at the Poly on points is great. I did it on my very first trip on points. Used 3 years worth of points for a big family trip and ended it with two castle view rooms at the Poly. We will never forget it!

IIRC, once the room is booked at the Poly (or any other Disney Collection option) they become Reservation Points and are no longer usable at DVC resorts. The same thing is true when points are used to book a Disney Cruise.

Even if the stay is cancelled well in advance of the 31-day window, the points are no longer eligible for use at a DVC resort.

I didn't wait list because we're excited about staying at the Polynesian, my kids have wanted to stay their forever and I could never justify spending the $$ out of pocket even with a discount.

Thanks Lori, I hope our stay is as memorable as yours was! :flower:

Have a great time. I know that we're not far from January, but why is DVC all booked up for those days? What's going on?

Hi,

Glad you could find something!!! Have a great time!!

Our family loves the Poly!! In fact we have enjoyed our vacations there so much that it is the reason that we put off joining DVC for so long! :earseek: Hope you love it as much as we do - enjoy your vacation.

The Poly is one of our favorites too! Your kids will love it, and you'll find it hard not to stay there again. I know using points for an onsite hotel is not the best use (financially) of points, but it sure does help! We stayed at AKL for one night last Feb. for similar reason to yours, and I don't regret it at all. Just wish we could have stayed longer!
