The FOTL access has been discussed here quite often. The general sentiment is that, while Disney has twice as many theme parks as Universal, Disney has far more than twice as many hotel rooms, so the same structure is probably infeasible. Some folks feel that that kind of perq is "anti-Disney," though that's debateable.
The current approach Disney has towards providing its own resort guests "a little advantage against other visitors" is Extra Magic Hours. Every day, one of the parks is open an hour early or stays open three hours late, and the attractions are limited to Disney resort guests during those times.
I do think we'll eventually see some sort of FastPass advantage for Disney resort guests, but perhaps not until Disney sees some weakening in the demand. Right now, Disney's load-levels are the envy of the industry, so they really don't need to do much more to keep their hotels as filled as they should be. However, someday perhaps they will, and at that time I'm guessing they'll offer the ability to Disney resort guests to get FastPasses for the day from a kiosk in the hotel lobby, before leaving for the park. There would probably be some limit, but the advantage would be the ability to choose your times, and have a set of FastPasses in-hand. That would be great.
