Just decided to attend Member Homecoming today - we will be going without our children, as they will be in school during the event. My husband and haven't been on a trip without our children in 16 years! Although I feel a little guilty - but shouldn't (we were just there with our kids in February 2004 and plan to bring them in August 2004) we are really looking forward to this mini getaway. We got an excellent annual passholder room rate $74 a night, and low airfare. I would be interested to hear if any other couples are attending without their kids?

Well since we don't have kids you could say we are.:D

We are having a DIS meet on the first day - check out the meets thread here DVC Member Homecoming

Hope you can join us.

Sounds like a great little getaway for you.

DH and I are leaving DS(2) with MIL & FIL. MH will be our third anniversary getaway. Not to mention the fact that our two year old goes to bed by 9pm so the late night events would not be worth it for him. We are staying at AKL...got a great deal from Disney Visa and also a great deal on airfare. We're looking forward to it. See you there!:wave2:

We're bringing DD9 with us to WDW but not to Member's Homecoming. We are also bringing our friends (who just happen to be DD's godparents) along on the trip and they will keep her while we are at the MH events.

Enjoy your mini getaway, we sure will be!!!!!!!!!!

We are attending without our children. My best friend is going to watch them for 2 nights (she is only a couple of hours away) and I will go to her house on thurs evening after I drop DH at the airport.

We cannot wait!!

If you don't mind me asking - what rate did you get at Animal Kingdom Lodge? We were quoted $200 a night for Animal Kingdom Lodge and that was an annual passholders rate. Just wondering if Visa offer is better.

Thanks!

The Disney Visa rate was $134/ night for a standard room. The pool view was $154 if I recall correctly. We went with the standard since it's only for two nights but we're hoping for some pixie dust and an upgrade! So yes...Visa rate is defintely better than AP. Hope this helps:wave2:

Wow, that is a great deal. Did you have to put your room on the Disney Visa to get that rate? It may be worth it for us to get one. Thanks very much for the information. :teeth:

Yes, you do have to put the entire payment on the Disney Visa. We put the deposit on the card and the remaining balance will also have to be on the card as well. It really is a great deal. :)
