Melbourne/Bearfoot Bay - anyone?

MILs winter home is in Bearfoot Bay
Anyone hear how they're doing? Anything lost?

Videos on NBC (can be seen on MSNBC.com) showed significant damage to some homes during daylight yesterday. Siding blowing off the side of a home, carports blowing away. It does not look good for the area. Watch the video of Bob Hager from last night. Photo on the video page is of a pier sagging and being pounded by the surf.

We know that pier well. It is on Vero Beach just north of the boardwalk and is the only private pier on the beach.

The local news here is showing a feed out of Melbourne on the news now and it is still getting lots of wind and rain. There is lots of power lines down so they don't want anyone out and about as of yet, plus there is still a lot of bands from the East side going through.

The news has also show some trees down, houses with damage, etc. Until it has passed, they won't be able to get good damage assessments but since it is so slow going through, that might not be until later today.

Sorry to post this but the Weather Channel just reported that the Bearfoot Bay Trailer Park had many that chose not to evacuate and are now trapped...here is damage in that area...please watch the Weather Channel for confirmation on this.

Search and rescue teams are headed to that area now.

Anderson Cooper from CNN is reporting from a trailer park in Barefoot Bay now (7 pm Eastern). Looks like some damage but not complete destruction. Only saw a small clip but it looks like they are going back to him soon.

Anderson Cooper just reported from there, he said they did OK and were very lucky. They were supposed to go back to him at 7pm turn on CNN.

They were just reporting again from Barefoot Bay - it's getting dark and they have no power - it doesn't look too bad from what was shown - we have one of dh's family there and am hoping they are okay as well as their place.
