Melbourne Airport

Does anyone know how far the Melbourne Airport is from Port Canaveral?

We are actually booked at the LaQuinta in Cocoa Beach the night before the cruise and wanted to get a flight into Melbourne. Myself and youngest DS are going to drive down to Orlando the day before my DH and oldest DS will fly down (long story so I won't go into it). I was going to have them fly into Orlando, but if my youngest and I can get checked into the hotel, spend some time at the pool and then pick them up in Melbourne (if it's closer), than we can shoot to The Cove for dinner that night.

I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

It's farther than you might think... the exit off of 95 would be #180 which is already 25 miles from the Beeline (528) which is exit #205. Then you add the distance down Route 192 you have to go to the airport from 95, and the distance from the port to 95 and you get around 40 miles. Believe it or not, it's only a slightly shorter trip than Orlando International (roughly 40 miles in a straight line, all highway). Add to that the fact that only one airline flies in to MLB (Delta) and the fares are usually way higher than Orlando, and you'll get the picture. We live here and have never once flown in/out of MLB. Just my $0.02, YMMV.

It's 44 miles via I-95 (faster) or about 35 miles via A1A (slower, but more scenic.)

Thanks for the info everyone! I really appreciate it. I have actually found a flight into Melbourne for the same price into Orlando. Not quite sure what we are going to do. I would really like to check into the LaQuinta in the afternoon and hang out at the pool. I'll check the mileage from there to each airport and go with that.

I fly in and out of Melbourne. It's a great convenient airport (not to mention my hometown airport).
