I took some melatonin last night to help me fall asleep and subsequently had some VERY strange dreams. I did some googling and this has been reported as a side effect. I'm just curious - has anyone else had experience with this? They weren't nightmares or anything, just unusually vivid and strange.

My 9 yo dd has ADD and was prescribed a stimulant, sometimes she needs melatonin to come down and fall asleep..she has never reported scary or intense dreams to us..my own experience with melatonin was different, I work midnights and thought it would help me sleep during the day, only thing I got out of it was a wicked headache and no sleep to boot, I'm just glad it helps my dd.

Yes....I take it every night to help me get to sleep and I have very vivid dreams.

I took Melatonin about a year ago and had very vivid and colorful dreams!!! Nothing nightmarish, just very vivid colors.

I take melatonin every night and yes vivid and sometime strange dreams occur.

I've taken Melatonin for a long time and have never experienced that side effect.
