Meeko's Walt Disney World Christmas Trip 2001

After a day at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, it's off to Disney-MGM Studios for the evening.

It was nearing 5:30 pm when I arrived at MGM Studios via Friendship Boat. The first thing I noticed was the Christmas Tree outside the park. It didn't look bad at all, but it will take some time to get use to it not being in the Chinese Theater's Courtyard. After a quick peek into Sid Cahuenga's Shop, It was down Hollywood Boulevard and to the completed hat.

I'm still undecided on how I like it, but I suppose it's not bad. I still cannot help wondering if it's permanent or just for the Celebration. It is mealy a glorified gift shop (although, I suppose the same case can be made for Cinderella Castle being just a restaurant and gift shop). Again, it will probably take time to get use to.

Next, it was off to the new One Man's Dream Attraction. The movie was nice, but the exhibits where unbelievable. So many pieces of Disney History all in one place. Defiantly a must-see for all Disney fans. After getting out of it. It was getting dark so it was down to New York Street (via the Honey I Shrunk Playground) and the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. The preshow was about the same as always, but the lights, snow, and al the displays were incredible. I even Frosty the Snowman and Mrs. Frosty coming out of the Golden Girl's House. Continuing down New York Street where even more surprises, a singing group performing Christmas Carols, the sound of Ewoks having a party at Star Tours, and one of Cinderella's little white pony (yes, a real pony). The evening ended at MGM Studios with "Share a Dream Come True" being played over the intercoms on Hollywood Boulevard while the Sorcerer's Hat sparkled in the night.

The evening wasn't over yet. It was back to the Polynesian Resort. For dinner at Captain Cook's. There was even a musical group out in the lobby playing Christmas Carols (got to love the Deluxe Resorts). The finale of the evening was going out to dock on the beach and watching The Castle change colors in the night and seeing the Electrical Water Pageant (which seems to have had a change in music since last time I saw it, including lots of music from the Little Mermaid). At that, the day came to a close. Tomorrow, Downtown Disney.

"One Man's Dream" was fascinating, wasn't it? I love your photos. Thanks for posting this.
