Mediterranean Cruise 2021: Need pre-cruise hotel recommendations

Hope to be able to cruise next summer so in anticipation of starting to research and plan, can you all recommend a hotel to stay at for our pre-cruise portion in Rome?

I believe that planning is always the best part of the journey and want to start planning now since we have never been to Rome and figure if 2021 does not work out due to all this craziness there is always 2022 to move all those plans to and look forward to!

There are plenty of past TRs and threads asking the same thing so I will give you are different type of recommendation (sadly all I can offer since our trip this year was cancelled). I had booked the Trevi Elite via Expedia and they offered my refund in a very timely fashion. No excuses or delays.

We stayed at the Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel and loved it. It's a Marriott property, so we were able to book it using points. The location was fabulous - right next to the Pantheon. You could walk to so many places or grab a cab easily if your destination was a little further away. There was a lovely rooftop bar where we spent many evenings watching the sunset and enjoying a glass of wine. The included breakfast was fantastic as well. The staff was great. Honestly I can't say anything negative about it except it was pretty pricey for those paying cash (though I imagine like most hotels prices are much lower right now). I'd still recommend at least staying in that neighborhood. It was relatively quiet (by Rome standards), felt safe and the location was close to so many things.

Wherever you decide to stay - plan as many days in Rome as your schedule and budget allows. It's a magical city.

We spent our honeymoon in Rome and we stayed at the Bernini Bristol hotel which was well situated near the Spanish Steps. It was within walking distance to other sites as well.
