Hi I am so new to Disney and travel in general I want to make sure I have everything covered Just incase :scared1: So when I booked my flight (yep I booked way early and hope prices wont go down :rotfl:) I booked cancellation and interruption insurance I also booked WDW resort and tickets myself and got the insurance which If I read correctly (and I did ask) ALSO included medical insurance Is this enough coverage? I am hoping NOTHING happens but I am used to not paying for Doctors/hospital :teacher: any help would be appreciated THANX

Can you please clarify? Did you purchase Disney's Insurance as part of a Magic Your Way package?

Hi tammz,

You might want to check to see if you don't already have coverage for medical. I know my work and also my spouse's work we get full medical coverage for international travel.

That's fine IF you can get something in writing to take with you. There have been instances in which ambulances and hospitals in the states have refused service until the ability to pay has been proved. Hard to believe but we've experienced it and the costs are tremendous. You need at least $1million to be sure things can be covered if worse comes to worse.

I did biy the insurance with the magic your way package (I think it was $69) It says it is medical insurance and covers canadians while traveling as well I do have insurance at work too not sure if it covers me when travelling I just dont want to be stuck and I didnt want to get the medical insurance through the ariline It was very pricey I dont know if the Disney coverage is enough

get extra medical, the disney medical has a VERY low coverage amount. when we went in 2010 it was $20,000 pp which won't cover much. we buy ours thru CAA for about $50 for a family of 4 which is $3,000,000 if i remember correctly. you don't have to be a member at CAA to buy it. we have coverage also thru my husbands plan at work, but you have to pay up front and submit the claim after & I'm not comfortable with that.

Here's the link from the Disney website on their insurance. It's only $10,000 medical & $10,000 sickness. The cancellation is fine, but buy extra medical!!!

I suggest you check your insurance through work to find out if it covers you if you are outside the country for leisure purposes. If it does, check how much coverage it offers. FYI, at a travel show we attended last year, the feds. currently recommend that each person have air evac. insurance for $50,000.

Find out how it works too. Like I said, we have to pay up front & submit the claim after & if we end up with a massive bill for an accident, I don't think we would have enough credit on our cards to cover it. We're with Great West Life.
