Would you recommend these in case of an emergency?

Also, which of these Walgreen's is closest to WDW should we need to have a prescription refilled (I only listed 24 hour stores, since invariably we have middle-of-the-night emergencies!).

We used Florida Celebrations Emergency room last February when our 7 mos old DD developed RSV while we were vacationning. She had a 103.5 fever when we went in and she was almost immediately taken in. They did a vapour treatment and chest x-rays and administered meds. We took our prescription "across" the road ... kind of kitty corner ... and used the drive thru. We also used the Walgreens right across from Orange Lake (I believe that is 192 W). There are so many around. I found the people at Celebrations to be really helpful to us and very good with our dd. I would return again (but I hope I never have to!! ) I hope you don't have to visit them either! (We probably should have gone when we were down this past March, as dd had a Norwalk-like virus, but we toughed it out for four days. I hope this dd doesn't get sick on every holiday!

I would not recommend Centre Care unless it is for something very minor. About five years ago, DD became ill. She was vomiting repeatedly. I took her to Centre Care. The doctor there (who I could barely understand) insisted that DD had appendicitis. I've known several people who've had appendicitis and I really didn't think it was the right diagnosis, but I wasn't going to take any chances. The doctor insisted that they call for an ambulance to take DD to Celebration hospital. I declined the ambulance and said that I would take her right over to the hospital. They got really nasty with me. They would not accept my insurance. So, I paid $100 in cash and drove DD to Celebration hospital. The doctor there checked her over and said that she had gastroentritis. He couldn't believe that the other doctor had told me it was appendicitis. He put DD on an IV to get fluids into her and gave her a prescription. About two hours later we were able to go back to our resort. DD slept the rest of the day and was able to go slowly around MGM the next day. The hospital had no problem accepting my insurance.

I'm very glad I didn't let them call the ambulance. That would have been a nice hefty bill.

If you need medical treatment while at WDW, I recommend you go right to Celebration hospital.

In 2004, we used both Centra Care and the emergency room of Celebration Hospital (for two different needs, within 6 hours of each other !!).


We had good service at Celebration Hospital (arrived via ambulance, so they saw to us quickly).


At Centra Care, I had to wait approx 1 hour for service (there were three people ahead of me in the waiting room. The service seemed fine.

We used the emergency room at the hospital when (on the very first night of our very first trip!) my then 2 year old needed stitches. Very prompt, friendly and they even billed my insurance.

FWIW, there is supposedly an excellent children's hospital in Orlando as well. Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital.

We are travelling with DD9 months who has congenital heart defects and our cardiologist highly recommended we take her there if we encounter a problem during our vacation.

Arnold Palmer childrens hospital is THE hospital. (that is where they recommend that WISH kids go if they need medical attn)
