Medical beds question

I am starting to plan a Grand Gatherings for Christmas 2009 and my MIL needs a medical bed - will this even be something that can be done at Disney if I rent one? Will they/can they remove an existing bed during her stay to make room for the medical bed?

Yes, you can arrange it thru the Special Needs Department (the phone number is listed in the section about resorts in the disABILITIES FAQs thread). They would arrange for a bed to be removed from the room and the medical bed brought in.

You could also arrange it yourself. In post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there are some phone numbers/web links to some full service medical companies that rent equipment. One of them would be able to help you (they would deliver and set up the bed.)

We are doing a GG at Beach Club in 10 days. We ordered a hospital bed and a rolling shower chair for Jack, my friend that I take care of as well as an accessible room with roll in shower.

I have been in contact with Disney's special services and CARE medical equipment. According to what I've been told the room will be rearranged and the bed will be in place the day we arrive.

I'll post our experiences on this board when we return.
