Med Clinic to use...

So hopefully we won't have to but I'd rather find the info out now than while we are there. Monday I had to take 6 yo to doc, she had pink eye. She has now been on antibiotics since Monday morning and is doing much better. None of the rest of us have any symptoms yet and if anyone does in the next 48 hours we have a great walk in clinic here which we will RUSH too...

Thankfully for the 6 yo it happened in enough time to get her patched back up.

I was a lysol, clorox, containment fool but you know how these things go...

So any experience with timely inexpensive clinics in the area? Doc in the box as we like to call them.

We leave in 2 day, 4 hours, 59 mins.

There is a Walgreens that has a clinic in it, we have used it on two separate trips.

We had to use the cvs walk in clinic. We went somewhere else first and they we trying to charge us almost $200per person (all three of us were sick) and that was WITH insurance. We went to a cvs and it was $99 before insurance (we get billed later). There was another lady with her son there too that were vacationing at Disney.

There are a couple of Centra Care Clinics in the area. I think they have a shuttle that will pick you up at the resort, someone at the front desk called for us. We have been a couple of times for different reasons - the wait was never too bad. I don't remember how much we paid but I remember it being reasonable with our insurance.

We used Centra Care in Oct when DS10 broke out in hives. If you need it, try to make an appointment online and if you can't get one or it's later in the morning, leave as early as you can from your resort. They do have a shuttle, but even the shuttle driver recommended taking a taxi because he said sometimes the shuttle can take up to an hour or more because there are so many pick-ups. There were a lot of people there but it went pretty quickly. We left the resort around 8 AM though and when we left the clinic, it was pakced. We did use the shuttle back because it was headed to the CR resort anyway.

We've need to use the clinic more times than I would like while vacationing at DisneyWorld. A couple of ear infections for my daughter (plane trips seem to trigger them), an eye infection for my wife, and my wife also missed a step at the Boardwalk and tore a ligament in her ankle and needed to be bandaged and get crutches. No, we didn't not ask for compensation from Disney, not every injury needs to be blamed on someone else.

If you have a car, and are planning on using a full service clinic such as Centra Care, my best advice is to get out the phone book and find one of the clinics 15-20 miles from DisneyWorld. We went to the 2 clinics nearest Disney (one is right outside the gate on 535) and the wait was horrendous. When you call a taxi, or Disney arranges transportation, they take you to the closest location and the waits are typically horrible. You'll easily make up the extra travel time in less time waiting, especially during busy seasons.

By driving further you avoid the resort visitors, I was amazed at how busy these clinics closest to the resorts are from early morning throughout the day.

We've used the CVS minute clinic near Animal Kingdom a few times....strep, ear infections, etc. At least with my insurance they bill like an office visit. The Concentra Clinics bill like an urgent care which is a lot more expensive for us. Plus I like that at the CVS I can get my prescription or over the counter stuff right away.

For pink eye, my doc will give me an extra script if I'm traveling (it's happened before) because it's so contagious. In fact, last time my son had it, I was going somewhere and the doc actually suggested putting the gooey stuff in my eyes if I felt the tiniest of itchiness in my eyes (not something I would normally do if I were at home).

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I'm Canadian and you can buy pink eye antibiotics over the counter. So I called a pharmacy trying to buy them in Florida and was told "nope". Lol

I have 2 kids and will never travel without them now
