mechanical difficulties on rides

I was at wdw 2/15-2/20. There were several rides we went on that would stop in the middle of the ride b/c of mechanical difficulties. Did anyone else experiece this? Happened on Mission Space, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and GM Test track.

This happens every single time I ride SE and a lot with HM.

There was one year I went to WDW where this happened on several rides on the same day. The only one I remember in particular is Carousel of Progress. It stopped while the theater was turning and the song seemed neverending. I guess I don't need to tell you which song got stuck in my head the rest of the day.

Many times when this happens they are loading or unloading an elderly or disabled person. Especially on HM - that moving platform is tricky.

it happened on carousel of progress and small world as well. I wonder if it tends to happen more often during really busy days at the parks.

Over 10 years ago, my brother and I were on Space Mtn (in DL) when the cars all stopped and they turned on the lights. Let me tell you, I'm not a big roller coaster person, and the only way I could do SM is with it being dark--I don't want to see how high up we are!! It was very bizarre seeing everything in the light, and a little scary sitting on the track waiting until everything started up again!!

Still love it these days though!! (just don't turn the lights on! )

We found that a lot on our Christmas trip.
Buzz broke twice on us...and they cleared our scores too!

TTA broke once. We were about 30 second from the exit area and had to sit and wait for about another 5-10 minutes. We could also see that this wasnt a case of someone trying to get on or off.

We watched the preshow of UOE just to be told the ride wasnt working. We tried again later in the day and had the same thing happen. At least the second time as soon as I saw the side doors open I knew enough to grab the kids and run before we got caught in the crowd again.

We waited in line for the first show of VOTLM just to be told it was cancelled due to technical difficulties(glad I dragged everyone out of bed to get that done first thing ).

And of course SSE, stopped a few times while we were on it, but that seems to be the norm for that.

Yes - if it is a continual loading ride (like SSE or HM, and Buzz) they have to stop the ride to move people from their wheelchairs to the ride car - and then stop the ride to move them back into the wheelchair. Knowing this, it never bothers me when the ride stops! I think it's great that they are able to ride!

Yup we were there at the same period of time.

Ride that broke down (the announcements were actually saying something about technical difficulties)

1. BTMRR (at the top of the hill before the 2nd descent)
2. Haunted Mansion (happened twice)
3. PoC (wasted about 30 minutes total)
4. TTA (wasted about 40 minutes and missed a parade)
5. Winnie the Pooh (sound effect and ride were out of sync)
6. Buzz Lightyear

Try this one...Last June we broke down on the Haunted Mansion in the graveyard for about 10 minutes. Luckily, dd5 was in my car, just ahead of dd8 and DH, who were right beside that ugly ghost who pops out from behind the gravestone. Yikes!

We have been stuck on ToT. The CM's had to crawl under our "elevator" and manually lower us. It was kind of fun listening to everyone's imagination run away with them.

Another time we were stuck on Pirates of the Carribbean for about 20 mins right in the part "We want the red-head!"

I believe that Carousel of Progress is set up so that if the theater does not complete its movement, the theme song will repeat.

It seems to me that if and when Carousel of Progress is discontinued for good, that will be following a major mechanical failure.

It is inevitable that CoP is going to close, probably as soon as Alien reopens but the silly part is the reason. They say it is poor attendance and mechanical failure and no way to get parts for it.

Poor attendance could be solved by more hype and if they could create CoP in the 60's when they actually had to invent the tecnology, please don't tell me that they can't repair or rebuild the entire thing, from scratch if need be.

I guess it is the same thinking as, we put men on the moon but we don't know how to anymore. It is just that they don't want too!

They always play a pre-recorded message that says that they are experiencing technical difficulties when they stop the ride to let someone who needs extra time boarding get on or off the ride. You can't tell by the message why the ride stopped. It's not like they can play a message that says they had to stop because someone in a wheelchair had to get on.

That happened last time I was there. Funny. It seemed so tame with the lights on. My childhood fantasies were crushed that day.

Not according to CM at City Hall.

When I file a complaint regarding the rides that stopped midway and such, she AND her manager told me that if there is no announcement, that means it's due to loading/unloading, but when there is an snnouncement, that means it's really technical difficulty.
