measuring system and wristbands

I just read something on another site that DL was testing a laser measuring device and issuing wristbands depending on how tall the kiddo measures out??

I'm sorry - I can't answer your question, but I sure hope it's something they are still doing.

Our nephew was stopped 3 times to be measured while we went through the queue for Tower of Terror at WDW a few years ago.

And they pulled my son out of his seat at California Screamin and made the entire ride wait for us (he had been measured, correctly, at the ride entrance)...just trying to be safe I guess. Luckily he was able to get back on the ride after all that hoo hah!

It looks like from the akrock/ak011212.htm at the end of the address that it's from 12/12/2001...I know when we went Sept 07 they didn't have anything like this...I am guessing this is really old information.

Yep, that's a really old article. You can tell b/c MP's format is totally different now.

i'm not sure if that's actually the date? but i can tell you it's very old, dead and gone, just because I know.

the long and short of it was they discovered parents would abuse the system by swapping wristbands. i've heard from CMs who said even if Disney tried implementing it today, they'd still scrutinize. that and most CMs are very good at spotchecking height anyway.

Yes, that CM deep in the Star Tours line who felt the need to slip a piece of paper above my son's head, and making him leave, did a great job in spot checking....(totally missing the itsy bitsy girl in tall cowboy boots and puffy hair that slipped past with her family as my hubby sadly watched)

Sorry, not ranting at you Brad. Just at that CM. Again. (my kid's compliant sometimes, so when this CM wanted to put something above his head, DS was going to duck a bit and let him!) Lucky we always had and still do put it to our son as "let's see if we CAN ride this THIS time" so he wasn't bummed, but my hubby sure was!


I would love for them to figure out some way to do the laser measure and make it work.

But yeah the format of that page shows its age.
