Good morning everyone!

Another week back to work *sigh* Once again I blinked and the weekend was over!

I had unexpected company yesterday. My brother and his family brought my mom to visit. Those of you that remember my story know what happened to her. For those that don't.. she has lived with me since 1989 and I've been her caretaker. Easter weekend she fell and broke her hip. She never really recovered from the surgery very well.

She lived in a rehab home for a month where they said she would never regain the ability to walk and be on her own again, and since I have to work to have my insurance. plus with me battling my own disease which is crippling, she had to go live with my brother 75 miles away.

My relationship with my mom was a very close one although sometimes hurtfull. My mom is not the nurtering kind. Being sick is something to be ashamed of. There were no hugs and I love yous.

I told her all my setbacks with my illness and work yesterday and for once she didn't criticize. Last night as she was leaving (which btw, she was walking with a walker when the rehab home said she would never be able to do) and I told her to remember that I love her. She actually told me that she knows and loves me too... and that "You have a lot of moxie, girl. I admire you. Don't let the pain get you down" :( :sad1: . My mom has never complimented me like that.

Okay, I had to get my weepy story out.. ignore the above, move on to the poll :)

In VH1's "The List" book, they have listed the top 11 songs from the 70's. Do you agree and which of them is your favorite?"

Best wishes to you and your mom. :)

And now I have to say, GO BEE GEES!!!!!! I love them so much!

, Lauri.

Marvin's What's Going On would be my choice. I could think of some more though. I love 70's music.:)

Wow, so many good songs there to choose from, it's rather hard. I'm torn but I'm going to go with American Pie.

I picked STH by Led Zeppelin. Basically my vote is purely for Led Zeppelin. Stairway is actually my least favorite Led Zep song. But Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite group.

p.s. Sending positive thoughts your way!

My kids are just discovering Queen and the Eagles and Mom and Dad seem a little 'cooler', somehow. They just can't get over the fact that we know the words..... My vote is for Queen. I loved them in the '70's because of their harmony....I still love most of their stuff.

(PS ~ It sounds like your Mom misses you and perhaps now realizes what she may have taken for granted before. :sunny: )

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Here in Michigan I prefered a homestate boy. Bob Seger!!!!The best album Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Live was my favorite and the only album DH and I had in common when we married.
My sister and I were moving our DD's home from college when DN found my cd of said album. She made the mistake of asking innocently "What's this"
I replied in my best screamin' Bob Seger voice
'YOU ARE HERE BECAUSE YOU WANTED THE REAL THING BOB SEGER AND THE SILVER BULLET BAND LIVE NOW YEAAAAAAAAAA
She looked at me strangely and said "I'll just put that back right where I found it"
How sad.....she didn't realize that was the beginning of some really great tunes....Not sure I could pick just one.

"Up with the sun, gone with the wind, she always said I was lazy"

"On a long lonesome highway east of Omaha"

"So you're a little bit older and a lot less bolder than you used to be"

"I was reading last night in Rolling Stone where they said that De-troit audiences were the greatest rock and roll audiences in the world. I thought to myself s**t I've know that for 10 years....You better watch out for the po-lice when you're drivin in Nutbush.

Oh and in the beginning of the 70's who could forget Bobby Sherman....Julie, Julie, Julie do you love me!!! He could have sang anything sigh

No wonder I sometimes have trouble remembering things that happened recently.....my head is filled with this stuff.....gotta go find that CD.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

This song has it all....:D

 Hugs for you and your Mom, Lauri!

Hmmm...Can I toss a coin? I'll go with Bohemian Rhapsody.

:)
