MeanLaureen's Useless Poll of the Day - Friday - Retro Candy!

"What novelty candy did you love as a kid that you would like to try again now?"

  • Pop Rocks - even if they supposedly did in Mikey when he ate them with a can of Coke ;)

  • Wax Lips - this one was total gimmick - I mean, we were eating wax!

  • Whistle Pops - We loved these in our neighborhood! And I'm sure the neighbors dreaded them!

  • Dippin Sticks - what better way to swap spit with your friends than to split a pack of dippin sticks

  • Pixie Sticks

  • The little wax bottles filled with syrup

  • Candy necklaces and bracelets

  • Those sheets of paper with dots of colored candy on them.. what were those things? Hardened sugar?

  • Charms Blow Pops - A lollipop AND gum - what more could you want?

  • Candy Cigarettes - did we look cool or what? ;)

  • Gold Rush Gum - little pieces of gum that looked like gold nuggets in a little burlap bag

  • Other - please post - there are so many that bring back memories - this could be fun!

Ahh! Matt just thought of one that I had completely forgotten about!

Anyone remember Big League Chew? It was bubblegum shredded up and in a pouch like chewing tobacco?

Oh yeah! I remember Big League Chew, loved that stuff!!! Why was shredded up gum so yummy?! I mean it really was! LOL I wonder if they still make it?

Other for me! Does any one remember the flying saucers made from 2 wafers and had little beads inside? We used to take them apart and play we were giving holy communion! I also liked the candy that looked like watermelon slices and had coconut in them.

Gosh, I LUV MeanLaureen!! I had forgotten all about all those goodies!! We did....we ate ANYTHING! I loved Babettes (is that what they are called?)! Those little taffy suckers. Banana, vanilla, chocolate, & strawberry. Then braces came along ~ jaw breakers were the only thing allowed for a couple of years (NO CHEWING). Thanks for the memories!! :hyper:

My favorite is Satellite Wafers (aka Flying Saucers)

Or how about the flower wafers they used to put on cakes (used to go to the bakery just to get them)

Marathon bar!! They were my favorite. Also the wax bottles with the juice in them. This is bringing back memories!
