Meals with a large group

What has your experience been when dining with a party of 8? Do you get one table or two? Do you limit your options for a "good" table when you have 8 in your party? For example, O'hana, window with a castle view -hard to do with 8? Any input, suggestions?

We frequently dine with a party of 8. When you call for PS sometimes they will put you through to group dining, sometimes not. We have been told sometimes that we might be seated at 2 different tables but when we have arrived at the resaurant that has never happened. We have also never had a problem with table locations, outside at R&C for illuminations, window at CG for MK fireworks.

We had a party of 8 the last time we went. We were never directed to Group Dining for any of the restaurants we chose. I did, however, make sure to make all of our PSs well ahead of time.

The only 2 places where we were separated were Sci-Fi Dine Inn and Garden Grill. The Sci-Fi was no big deal - we were seated at 2 cars near each other. The Garden Grill was disappointing because we had to be in 2 different booths and could not even see each other. BTW, they do have booths able to accommodate parties of 8 but a group of 4 ahead of us decided to ask for that last particular booth and they were given it. When we complained that they didn't need it and we did, they told us that their policy was that they had to give it to anyone who asked. I personally thought that was bull. We won't be going back there. Not just because of that but because we weren't impressed anyway this time.

The best places were the ones that sat us at large round tables: Spoodles & Liberty Tree Tavern.

We go to Chef Mickey's with a party of 10 every year. When I call to make my PS they always tell me they'll give me a table for 4 and a table for 6 or something like that. Never happens. We've always been seated at a table for 10, even at busy times. We went for dinner the day after Christmas last year and had no problem.

That said, we've never asked to sit in a particular place, since the characters seem to circulate around the restaurant. I don't know if you would have a harder time getting a specific location.
