There are a couple of restaurants that We would like to visit when we go in January ( Hollywood and Vine , Liberety Tree Inn) and was wondering what our chances would be of just booking a table on the day rather than make PS's in advance?
We don't really like to be tied to a schedule.
Also, what kind of buffet food do they serve at H&V?
Can anyone help?

Is it just for two? You can certainly try for a walk-in. If you want to go to the character dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern then unless you get a cancellation, your chances aren't so good, but consider going there for lunch - it's comparatively quiet and yet most people consider this the best restaurant for lunch.

H&V serve a buffet and you have roast turkey, roast chicken and roast prime beef (yum!) plus pasta dishes, a variety of salads, cakes, and ice-cream with various toppings.

I would pop into the restaurants early to check if they can fit you in at any time and be prepared to be flexible timewise.

Hi Frantic Frog,

We had made a booking for a Fantasmic dinner package at H&V well in advance of our trip back in April. We enjoyed it so much that we were parkhopping a week later and decided to see if we could get in again that evening at MGM (meal only - not Fantasmic) - we had no problem at all - just waited outside for less than 10 minutes and we were called to our table. We were even offered Fantasmic ticekts - but we were heading to Epcot for the Illuminations so didn't bother.

The following link takes you to the menu - we thought it was excellent - and very good value.

Thanks to both of you.
Seeing as there are 11 paying and 1 infant, then I guess We ought to seriously think about making a booking.
I just though that maybe with it being in January, it might be quiet enough to just make reservations on the morning we go into the relavent parks at guest relations.
Thanks again for the really useful comments

I can only speak for Liberty Tree Tavern. Having been there in November / December during the quiet periods we got in really easily both times. However, it isn't the biggest place in WDW so I very much doubt if you'd walk in and get 11 + 1 places.

I'd personally get there early and do a PS.

The food is really good............ the real beast is the " New England Dinner ". A plate of Turkey, every veg imaginable, biscuits ( scones to you and me ), a MOUND of mash and all sorts of other stuff. The look on my wife's face when they placed it in front of her was one of sheer fright. She finished up passing bits to me, both our kids and only just stopped herself from accosting passers-by with the offer of free turkey and veg. Even then, what was left would have fed a family of four!!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Liberty Tree Tavern, but go for that reservation!

Oh Mike, you are making my mouth water, sounds fantastic.
I remember that we had a turkey dinner at Epcot (Cananda) and we have never tasted anything like it since, it was so lush!
Did you have the characters there?.
I will for certain go and try to book first thing in the morning, even if we have to book for another day and come back, that'll be OK with our hopper tickets.
Have you ever had one of those giant turkey legs?
Had one once and it took 4 of us to nibble away at it!!:teeth:
Thanks for the info

Mike,

Seeing your post, I nipped over and had a shufty at the reviews of the Liberty tree. It's now on my list of eatery to do's for our next trip.

I know this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type question, but can you give me some idea what I can expect to pay for our party, 2 adults & 2 kids, one with an adult size appetite !

We're talking 3 figures I guess ?

:Pinkbounc :eek: :crazy: ::yes:: :bounce:
